As we are continuously benchmarking our performance vs our competitors we regularly investigate a number of key markets.

  • Which suppliers qualified per brewery / can-types
  • Should cost modelling
  • Analysis of import/export data on aluminium / steel
  • Support on AIMMS (allocation optimization tool) implementation
  • Tax freezones - Africa & Panama
  • Data analysis in general
Your new team and workplace

At Heineken Global Procurement – Packaging we are responsible for global sourcing of packaging materials, like bottles, cans, crown corks and labels. You will work in the Metal team that sources close to 30 bio. beverage cans and crown corks and a spend of close to Euro 3 bio. The team consists of 6 people (5 nationalities), each responsible for a region (Europe, Americas, Africa & Middle East and Asia) or category (crown corks). The team works on many exciting projects to ensure reliable and sustainable supply of materials. Some examples: vertical integrations, footprint development, should-cost analysis, allocation optimization, etc. The continuous disruptive developments in the world ensure an exciting and insightful workspace where you can really make an impact for the company!

How a Day In The Internship Could Look Like
Welcome to Metal!

No two days are exactly the same, but a typical day might look something like this…

You start your morning checking what happened overnight in the world of aluminium and steel. Commodity prices moved, a supplier has a “small” issue that suddenly feels very big, and somewhere in the world someone urgently needs cans or crowns.

After a quick coffee, you join a call with one of our markets to understand a sourcing challenge. Next up: diving into data, comparing supplier proposals or helping the team prepare for a negotiation with companies like Crown, Ball or Ardagh.

Lunch is followed by a team discussion on strategy: How can we buy smarter? Reduce cost? Improve resilience? Become more sustainable?

And just when you think the day is going according to plan… something unexpected happens. Welcome to procurement!

As an intern in Metal, you’ll get exposure to markets, suppliers, negotiations, strategy and real business challenges.

One thing is guaranteed: you won’t be bored.
The unique you!

We believe everyone has unique talents, which is why we’re looking for you! Energy, drive and the ambition to grow are what make the difference at HEINEKEN. In addition, you bring:

  • Good data gathering and analytical skills (knowledge of excel is a must!).
  • A strong interest to learn about the metal category.
  • Curiosity to drive change and work in a multicultural environment.
  • Fluent English language skills.

Even if you feel you don’t meet all the criteria, we encourage you to apply. An internship is the perfect opportunity to learn and grow!
