Are you interested in how Heineken builds new breweries? And are you passionate about AI and digital innovations and ready to experiment with the future of industrial engineering? Then this internship is for you!

The internship

We are looking for an entrepreneurial, creative and digital savvy intern to explore opportunities for digital tooling and AI in our daily design, procurement and execution work for capital investment projects; i.e. building new breweries across the world. The aim is to increase efficiency, have more flexible designs and deliver our designs and projects faster.

Activities
  • Collaborate with brewing, packaging, utilities, civil and automation engineers to explore and test opportunities.
  • Develop and pilot use cases. Prepare for implementation into our Capital Excellence ways of working.
  • Present what has been accomplished and learnings at the end of the assignment
Use case examples
  • Improve quality and consistency of project specifications
  • Getting insights by capturing results, learnings and best practices from capital projects
  • AI agents for engineers
  • AI to automate comparisons of quotes and creating purchasing advice
  • Data engineering design
  • Creating measurable KPI’s to show OT security performance of all our sites worldwide
Your new team and workplace

We’ll design, plan and build breweries around the world. We do this in structured approach using our Capex Excellence principles. And we closely collaborate with our operating companies (internal customers) and our suppliers across the globe to achieve the desired results: Within budget, within time and according to the agreed quality. During your internship, you’ll have every opportunity to get to know HEINEKEN as an organization, not just within your own team, but across departments. We trust and empower you to work with an entrepreneurial mindset. At HEINEKEN, we love bringing the outside world in and welcome fresh, new ideas with open arms. Of course, we’ll make sure you get the guidance that suits you.

What a Day In The Internship Could Look Like

Your day starts by picking a desk and grabbing a coffee with colleagues at the coffee bar. From there, you dive into your assignment, experimenting with new ideas and turning automated results into something useful. And you won’t be working in isolation: you’ll discuss your findings directly with engineers working on real projects, such as new brewhouses and packaging lines. During the day, you’ll join project meetings and informal sessions such as the P&E coffee meeting, giving you a behind-the-scenes look at engineering, technology, and supply chain within HEINEKEN. Lunch is a chance to connect with colleagues, or, once we move to Amsterdam around May 2027, head outside for a short walk. The afternoon could see you continuing your project, supporting the team, helping organize an event, or exchanging ideas with colleagues from different disciplines. With projects, networking opportunities, events, and new challenges happening around you, there’s always more to discover than just your own assignment.

The unique you!

We believe everyone has unique talents, which is why we’re looking for you! Energy, drive and the ambition to grow are what make the difference at HEINEKEN. In addition, you are:

  • Good at turning an idea into a quick prototype
  • Comfortable working independently and challenging existing ways of working
