Job description

Step into the World of Superyacht Technology – Become Our International Field Service Engineer

Bring high-end AV/IT systems to life on board the world’s most extraordinary superyachts

As an International Field Service Engineer at VBH, you are the person who makes sure our high-end AV/IT systems are not only installed correctly, but also work exactly as they should on board.

You will be travelling regularly. From Dutch shipyards and different locations across Europe to yachts further afield, depending on the project. Travel is not an exception in this role — it is part of the job. You enjoy that variety, like working in different environments and get energy from discovering new places while working on new projects.

You are hands-on, technically strong and enjoy solving problems. When a system does not perform as expected, you want to understand why, find the right solution and make sure the client can move forward with a system that works properly.

At VBH, you are part of a team you can rely on. You work closely with engineers, installers, project managers and colleagues on site. We are an open and approachable organisation where people work closely together and help each other when needed. Even when you are travelling, you know there is a team behind you.

Where will you work?

Your home base will be either Weesp, the Netherlands, or Antibes, France. The work itself is the same, but your location and local employment conditions will differ.

Based in the Netherlands

From Weesp, you will regularly travel to Dutch shipyards, yachts across Europe and further afield, depending on the project. International travel is an important part of the role.

Being based in the Netherlands also means easy access to Schiphol. With Schiphol Privium as part of the package, international travel is made a little easier when heading to your next project.

Based in France

From our Antibes office, you will be travelling regularly to shipyards and yachts along the Mediterranean coast. This means spending a lot of time on the road, with projects taking you along the coastline between Barcelona and Genoa.

You enjoy the variety that comes with being on the move, working in different locations and adapting to changing project environments.

What will you be doing?

As an International Field Service Engineer, you are responsible for the technical execution on site.

  • Lead and coordinate the installation of AV/IT systems and equipment on board.
  • Commission and test systems and check that they meet the technical specifications, drawings and requirements.
  • Analyse technical issues, troubleshoot problems and correct deviations.
  • Work closely with engineers, installers, suppliers and other stakeholders on site.
  • During larger projects, coordinate the activities of other engineers and help keep the work on track.
  • Act as the technical point of contact for clients, suppliers and project partners.
  • Explain systems to clients and provide technical guidance so they can operate the systems correctly.
  • Record changes and updates for revision documentation and share relevant feedback with Engineering.
  • Ensure that work is carried out according to applicable HSE and quality requirements.
  • Represent VBH during project meetings and in communication with clients on site.
  • Think actively about improvements and share practical ideas based on your experience in the field.

You are not only installing systems. You are the person on site who makes sure everything comes together, solves technical challenges when they arise and helps deliver the final result to the quality our clients expect.

What you’ll get
  • A gross monthly base salary between €3.560,- and €5.535,- based on a 40 hours work week (based on your experience)
  • €0.25 per kilometer travel allowance for a one-way commute of at least 10 km;
  • 100% reimbursement of public transport costs;
  • A VBH laptop and iPhone;
  • 25 vacation days per year;
  • 4% annual profit-sharing scheme. Based on company and individual performance.
  • Schiphol Privium membership (for the Netherlands)
  • Daily Allowance when travelling
  • Travel hours compensation
  • Overtime paid out in time-for-time hours
  • The option to lease a bicycle through Lease a Bike;
  • Swapfiets bicycle when travelling by public transport;
  • Technical training and courses focused on new technologies relevant to your role;
  • CAO Metal and Technical Installation Industry Collective Agreement;
  • Pension plan with PMT, with 63% of the pension contribution paid by VBH on a monthly basis;
  • And of course: the unique opportunity to work with high-end AV/IT technology on some of the world’s most extraordinary superyachts.
What you bring

We are looking for someone who enjoys technology, likes being on the road and genuinely cares about service.

  • A completed MBO education, preferably in electronics, IT or a technical field.
  • Several years of experience with AV/IT installations; experience in a high-end or maritime environment is a plus.
  • Good technical knowledge and a practical, hands-on approach.
  • Experience with installation, testing, commissioning and troubleshooting.
  • The ability to work independently and take ownership of your work.
  • A calm and solution-oriented approach when things do not go according to plan.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with clients, suppliers and colleagues.
  • Good command of Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
  • Willingness to travel regularly and internationally.
  • Currently based in the Netherlands or France and able to work here without requiring relocation support from VBH.
Working together at VBH

You’ll join a team of technical specialists, each bringing their own knowledge and experience. We work closely together, help each other and believe it’s important that you feel at home in the team from day one.

You’ll work alongside experienced colleagues who will introduce you to our systems and way of working, while giving you the space to become increasingly independent and continue developing your skills.

We also believe in supporting you in your role as technology continues to evolve. That is why we provide technical training and courses focused on new technologies, so you can continue to develop your technical knowledge and stay up to date with the developments that are relevant to your work.

At VBH, you’ll also work on something you don’t come across every day: high-end AV/IT technology that ultimately becomes part of an exclusive superyacht.

Join VBH and turn your technical knowledge into the drawings behind some of the world’s most extraordinary superyachts.
