Job description

Work on some of the world's most advanced smart environments..
.. in places that almost no one ever gets to see.

People expect technology to work together.

You make sure it does.

Behind every lighting scene, cinema experience, touchscreen interface and automated onboard environment lies a complex control system that brings different technologies together.

At VBH, you'll program the systems that make this possible.

As an AV Control Systems Programmer, you'll develop, configure and optimise control systems that connect audio, video, lighting, HVAC and other onboard technologies into one seamless experience. Using platforms such as Crestron, you'll turn technical requirements into intelligent programming and intuitive user interfaces.

Working alongside System Engineers, AV Specialists and other technical experts, you'll help bring complex designs to life through reliable, user-friendly control systems on some of the world's most advanced superyachts.

The reality
Working in the superyacht industry comes with high expectations.
Details matter. Reliability matters. The user experience matters.

Every line of code contributes to how people interact with the technology around them. A touchscreen should feel intuitive, lighting should respond exactly as intended, and different systems must communicate and operate together reliably.

No two projects are the same. One day, you'll be writing control logic or developing a custom user interface. The next, you'll be integrating multiple systems, debugging code or supporting commissioning on board.

It's a role for someone who enjoys solving programming challenges, understanding how different technologies interact and turning complex technical requirements into smart, practical solutions.

Your role
As an AV Control Systems Programmer, you'll take responsibility for programming and integrating the control systems that bring onboard technology together.

You'll develop control logic, create user interfaces and connect different technologies through the appropriate programming platforms and communication protocols. Working closely with System Engineers and other specialists, you'll translate technical designs into control solutions that are reliable, intuitive and tailored to each project.

From the initial programming through testing, debugging and commissioning, you'll play an important role in making sure every system performs as intended.

What you'll be doing

Programming and control systems

Develop, program and optimise control systems using Crestron platforms.

Write and maintain control logic using technologies such as SIMPL, SIMPL+ and SIMPL#.

Develop software components using C# and .NET where required.

Translate technical requirements into functional, reliable control solutions.

Integrate AV, lighting, HVAC and other onboard technologies into a cohesive control environment.

User interfaces and system integration

Create intuitive control experiences that make complex technology easy to use.

Integrate different systems and devices through APIs and communication protocols.

Work with technologies such as KNX, DALI, Lutron and Q-SYS, depending on project requirements.

Apply protocols such as REST API, Modbus, BACnet and TCP/IP to connect systems and enable communication between technologies.

Testing, troubleshooting and commissioning

Test and debug programming to ensure systems operate reliably.

Investigate integration issues and find practical, effective solutions.

Support system testing and commissioning, including resolving programming issues during project delivery.

Work closely with System Engineers, AV Specialists, IT Specialists and installation teams to ensure everything functions as intended.

Contribute ideas and improvements to make our programming and control solutions even better.

What you'll get

At VBH, you'll work on projects that few software engineers ever experience.

In return, we offer:

  • A gross monthly salary between €4.055 and €5.933 based on your experience;
  • €0.25 per kilometre travel allowance for a one-way commute of at least 10 km;
  • 100% reimbursement of public transport costs;
  • A VBH laptop and iPhone;
  • 25 vacation days per year;
  • 4% annual profit-sharing scheme, depending on the achievement of company objectives. This scheme applies after a positive C-performance review and once you have completed one year of employment;
  • Training and personal development opportunities;
  • Opportunities for career growth within the organisation;
  • CAO Metal and Technical Installation Industry Collective Agreement;
  • Pension plan with PMT, with 63% of the pension contribution paid by VBH on a monthly basis;
  • Hybrid working opportunities;
  • The option to lease a bicycle through Lease a Bike;
  • Swapfiets bicycle when travelling by public transport;
  • And of course: the unique opportunity to work with high-end AV/IT technology on some of the world's most extraordinary superyachts.
What you bring

We're looking for a programmer with strong technical expertise, a logical way of thinking and a genuine interest in connecting different technologies.

You enjoy turning complex requirements into working solutions, investigating why something doesn't work as expected and finding a better way to make it work.

You'll probably recognise yourself in the following:

Extensive experience programming Crestron control systems.

Crestron Masters Certified Programmer (CMCP) certification.

Strong programming skills in Crestron SIMPL, SIMPL+ and SIMPL#.

Experience with C# and .NET development using Visual Studio.

Knowledge of system integration technologies such as KNX, DALI, Lutron, HVAC systems and Q-SYS.

Familiarity with integration protocols such as REST API, Modbus, BACnet and TCP/IP.

Knowledge of AV transport protocols such as Dante, RTP/RTCP, NDI, AES and UDP/TCP is a strong advantage.

The ability to troubleshoot, debug and improve complex control systems.

A structured and analytical approach, with attention to detail and a strong sense of responsibility for the quality of your code.

Enjoyment of working alongside specialists from different technical disciplines.

Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively on complex projects.

Most importantly, you take ownership of your programming, enjoy solving technical challenges and understand that great control systems combine technical precision with an intuitive user experience.

Working together at VBH

You'll join a team of technical specialists, each bringing their own knowledge and experience. We work closely together, help each other and believe it's important that you feel at home in the team from day one.

You'll work alongside experienced colleagues who will introduce you to our systems and way of working, while giving you the space to become increasingly independent and continue developing your skills.

We also believe in supporting you in your role as technology continues to evolve. That is why we provide technical training and courses focused on new technologies, so you can continue to develop your programming skills and stay up to date with the developments that are relevant to your work.

At VBH, you'll also work on something you don't come across every day: high-end AV/IT technology that ultimately becomes part of an exclusive superyacht.

Join VBH and turn your programming expertise into the intelligent control systems behind some of the world's most extraordinary superyachts.
