Job description

Work on some of the world's most advanced IT environments...

.. in places that almost no one ever gets to see.

Our clients expect to stay connected.

You make sure they are.

Behind every reliable connection on board is a well-designed and carefully configured network.

As an IT & Network Specialist at VBH, you'll configure, implement and troubleshoot the network infrastructure that keeps superyachts connected. From routers, switches and firewalls to wireless networks and secure connectivity, you'll make sure systems work reliably and securely, from initial setup through to commissioning.

Working closely with our System Engineers and installation teams, you'll put your networking expertise into practice on complex IT projects where reliability is essential.

The Reality

Working in the superyacht industry comes with high expectations.

Details matter. Security matters. Reliability matters.

Our clients expect the same reliable digital experience at sea as they do on land. That means networks must perform reliably, systems must be secure and technical issues need to be identified and resolved quickly.

Every project brings different technical challenges. You might be configuring network equipment, implementing security measures or testing a new infrastructure. On another day, you'll be on board during commissioning, investigating a network issue or working with colleagues to get a complex system running as it should.

It's a role for someone who enjoys understanding how systems work, solving technical challenges and taking ownership of the result.

Your role

As an IT & Network Specialist, you'll be responsible for configuring, implementing and optimising the network infrastructure behind advanced IT environments on board some of the world's most extraordinary superyachts.

You'll work with enterprise networking technologies, including routers, switches, firewalls and wireless systems. Together with System Engineers, Project Managers and installation specialists, you'll help translate technical requirements into reliable, secure and practical network solutions.

From the initial configuration through installation, testing and commissioning, you'll play an important role in ensuring the infrastructure performs as expected.

This is a hands-on networking and IT infrastructure role, focused on configuring, securing and troubleshooting systems rather than developing software.

What you'll be doing

Network infrastructure and configuration

  • Configure and implement network infrastructures for complex onboard IT environments.
  • Set up and optimise routers, switches, firewalls and wireless networks.
  • Work with LAN/WAN environments, VPNs and network segmentation to ensure reliable and secure connectivity.
  • Configure network equipment and ensure the different components work together correctly.
  • Contribute to network designs and technical solutions that meet the requirements of each project.

Network security and reliability

  • Help implement secure network environments, including firewall configurations and access controls.
  • Work with technologies such as IDS/IPS and other network security measures.
  • Identify potential network issues and investigate their root causes.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity, performance and configuration problems, finding practical solutions that keep systems running reliably.

Installation, testing and commissioning

  • Support the implementation and integration of network infrastructures on board.
  • Test configurations and verify that systems perform as expected.
  • Support commissioning activities and resolve technical issues during installation and delivery.
  • Work closely with System Engineers, Project Managers and installation specialists to coordinate technical activities and resolve challenges.
  • Contribute to technical documentation and share knowledge with colleagues to improve the quality and consistency of our work.

What you’ll get

At VBH, you'll work on projects that few IT professionals ever experience.

In return we offer;

  • A gross monthly salary between €3.738,- and €5.374,- based on a 40-hours work week
  • €0.25 per kilometer travel allowance for a one-way commute of at least 10 km;
  • 100% reimbursement of public transport costs;
  • A VBH laptop and iPhone;
  • 25 vacation days per year;
  • Hybrid working opportunities;
  • The option to lease a bicycle through Lease a Bike;
  • Swapfiets bicycle when travelling by public transport
  • 4% annual profit-sharing scheme. Based on company and individual performance.
  • Training and personal development opportunities;
  • Guidance from experienced System Engineers and technical specialists;
  • Opportunities for career growth within engineering and the wider organisation;
  • CAO Metal and Technical Installation Industry Collective Agreement;
  • Pension plan with PMT, with 63% of the pension contribution paid by VBH on a monthly basis;
  • And of course: the unique opportunity to work with high-end AV/IT technology on some of the world’s most extraordinary superyachts.

What you bring

We're looking for someone who combines deep technical expertise with a practical, hands-on mindset.

You enjoy solving complex networking challenges, take ownership of your work and know that reliability and security are never an afterthought.

You'll probably recognise yourself in this:

  • You have several years of experience designing, implementing and maintaining enterprise network infrastructures;
  • You have hands-on experience configuring routers, switches, firewalls and wireless environments;
  • You're Cisco CCNA certified. A CCNP certification is considered a strong advantage;
  • Experience with Fortinet solutions and Fortinet NSE certification is highly desirable;
  • You have solid knowledge of LAN/WAN environments, VPNs, network segmentation, IDS/IPS and current cybersecurity standards;
  • You're familiar with technologies such as Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Kerio Control, Cisco Wireless, Ruckus Wireless and Pepwave/Peplink;
  • You communicate confidently in English and Dutch and enjoy collaborating with multidisciplinary teams;
  • Most importantly, you take ownership, think ahead and enjoy solving technical challenges.

Working together at VBH

You'll join a team of technical specialists, each bringing their own knowledge and experience. We work closely together, help each other and believe it's important that you feel at home in the team from day one.

You'll work alongside experienced colleagues who will introduce you to our systems and way of working, while giving you the space to become increasingly independent and continue developing your skills.

We also believe in supporting you in your role as technology continues to evolve. That is why we provide technical training and courses focused on new technologies, so you can continue to develop your technical knowledge and stay up to date with the developments that are relevant to your work.

At VBH, you'll also work on something you don't come across every day: high-end AV/IT technology that ultimately becomes part of an exclusive superyacht.

Join VBH and bring your technical expertise to life on board some of the world's most extraordinary superyachts.
