Job summary

Van Berge Henegouwen (VBH) is seeking a Technical Project Leader to supervise the technical execution of mega yacht projects. You will ensure agreements are followed, monitor progress and coordinate with technical specialists and installation teams to deliver on plan.

Based at the VBH headquarters in Weesp, you will travel to shipyards in the Netherlands and worldwide for refits and new builds, developing your leadership towards a Senior Technical Project Leader role.

Qualifications

Technical Project Leader
Lead the technical side of some of the world’s most extraordinary superyachts

Building a 70 to 150-metre superyacht is a project of considerable scale. At VBH, you work on new‑build projects that can take two to five years, as well as refit projects that are carried out around the world within just a few months.

As a Technical Project Leader at VBH, you are responsible for the technical execution of the project. You make sure agreements are followed, monitor progress and work closely with our technical specialists and installation teams to ensure everything comes together as planned.

This role is ideal for someone with a solid technical or project background who is ready to take the next step. You will have the opportunity to develop your project leadership skills, take on more responsibility over time and grow towards a Senior Technical Project Leader role within VBH.

You are based at our headquarters in Weesp, but spend a significant amount of your time where the project is taking place: at Dutch shipyards where superyachts are being built and at locations around the world for refit projects.

What will you be doing?

• Monitor technical progress and ensure that agreed arrangements are followed.
• Coordinate activities, set priorities and make sure different activities are properly aligned.
• Lead and support technical specialists and installation teams throughout the project.
• Take responsibility for technical work packages and the related project documentation.
• Oversee the integration of systems and products and ensure the technical result meets expectations.
• Report progress and any points of attention to the Project Manager.
• Discuss technical concepts, solutions and project proposals with clients and other stakeholders.
• Assess the technical and financial feasibility of tasks and change orders.
• Take the technical lead during the commissioning phase and, together with the team, ensure a successful final result.

New-build & refit

The combination of new-build and refit projects makes this role particularly interesting. On new-build projects, you work on superyachts from the early stages of construction. These projects can take several years and take place at different shipyards in the Netherlands.

Refit projects are shorter and often more fast‑paced. Within approximately two to three months, an existing yacht is modified, upgraded or equipped with new AV/IT systems. These projects can take place anywhere in the world. This means you are constantly working in different environments, with different teams and new technical challenges.

What you’ll get

• A gross monthly salary between €3,850 and €6,111 based on a 40-hour work week, depending on your experience and skills.
  Overtime compensation and a daily allowance during international projects.
• €0.25 per kilometer travel allowance for a one-way commute of at least 10 km;

What you bring

• A completed Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a technical field.
• Affinity with and knowledge of AV/IT and integrated technical systems.
• Experience leading or coordinating technical projects.
• Experience managing a team and achieving shared project goals.
• A goal-oriented approach, with the ability to set priorities and maintain an overview when several things are happening at once.
• Strong planning, delegation and progress-monitoring skills.
• The ability to remain calm and decisive when projects are under time pressure.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to bring together different interests of clients, suppliers, specialists and other stakeholders.
• Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
• Flexibility and willingness to travel internationally on a regular basis.
• Agile, VCA and/or PRINCE2 certification is a plus.
