Riverflex is seeking an experienced Strategy & Transformation Consultant to join on an interim basis. Freelance, hybrid in the Netherlands, immediate start. You will work with top retailers, shaping technology organisation design, operating models and governance as part of a Riverflex team reporting to leadership.

You will break down strategic tech questions, run analyses, and craft executive-ready narratives for CTOs and the C-suite. Availability to start immediately is required.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of experience in strategy or technology consulting at a top firm.
• Proven work on technology strategy, operating models, or transformation at senior level.
• Strong problem-solving and structured thinking; executive communication skills.

Responsabilités

Strategy & Transformation Consultant (Interim)

Freelance | Hybrid, Netherlands | Interim, immediate start

Riverflex is supporting technology leaders at major retailers through a number of strategic engagements, and we are looking for experienced strategy consultants to join our team on an interim basis. You work as part of a Riverflex team alongside our in‑house consultants, reporting to a member of our leadership team. You help CTOs shape how their technology organisations run, decide and deliver.

Current and upcoming engagements include:

• Supporting a CTO following the merger of regional technology departments into one. The work covers how the leadership team should operate and how to set up a CTO office that delivers on their ambitions.
• Establishing an AI-enabled CTO office. This means rethinking processes and ways of working, and using AI solutions to make the office more effective.
• Acting as strategic thinking partner to a CTO. This means answering key technology questions and preparing updates for the C-suite.

You bring top-tier consulting training and sharp problem-solving skills. You structure ambiguous questions, build the analysis and craft the storyline. You do this as part of a tight team, not as a solo act.

Responsibilities

• You break down strategic technology questions into clear problem statements, hypotheses and workplans
• You help design technology operating models, including leadership team set-up, governance, CTO office structure, processes and ways of working
• You run the analysis: fact-finding, stakeholder interviews, data gathering and synthesis into clear recommendations
• You build executive-ready storylines and materials for CTO and C-suite audiences
• You work within a Riverflex team, contributing ideas, structure and challenge, and taking direction from the engagement lead
• You build trusted working relationships with senior client stakeholders across technology and the business
• You get up to speed quickly and add value from week one

Job requirements

• 5-10 years' experience, including a strong grounding in strategy or technology consulting at an MBB or Big 4 firm
• Proven experience on technology strategy, operating model or transformation work at senior level
• Excellent structured problem-solving and hypothesis-driven thinking
• Strong executive communication, with the ability to turn complex analysis into a clear C-suite narrative
• A collaborative, low-ego working style and comfort working within a team led by Riverflex leadership
• Availability to start immediately
• Based in the Netherlands, or able to be on site regularly
• Fluent English and EU work authorisation

The following are a plus:

• Experience designing or setting up a CTO office, or integrating technology functions after a merger
• Exposure to AI-enabled ways of working or process redesign
