Job summary

TenneT zoekt een Inspector (Instrumentation, Control & Electrical) die toezicht houdt op leveringen en QC-activiteiten voor offshore projecten. Je beoordeelt gebouwen en EPC-werkzaamheden en zorgt voor naleving van Employer Requirements, normen en contractuele verplichtingen.

Je hebt minimaal 10 jaar QC/QA-ervaring, bij voorkeur in olie/gas, renewables of shipping, en een HBO/Bachelor Elektrotechniek. Reizen door heel Europa en werken in een internationale omgeving maken deel uit van de functie.

Qualifications

• Minimaal 10 jaar ervaring in QC inspectie of gelijkwaardige QA-rol.
• Ervaring met offshore projecten in olie/gas, renewables of shipping.
• Ervaring met QC-plannen, ITPs en testprocedures.
• Bekend met EPC-contracten, bij voorkeur FIDIC Silver Book.
• Kennis van internationale normen zoals BS, IEC, ISO, API, ATEX, EEMUA.
• Ervaring met inspectie van elektrische, besturings- en instrumentation systemen (bijv. schakelingen, MCC, VSD).
• Aantoonbare ervaring met vendor quality surveillance is essentieel.

Responsibilities

• Ondersteunen van Site Package Lead en QC Coördinator bij review van kwaliteitsleveringen.
• Ondersteunen discipline teams bij oplossen van technische en kwaliteitsissues.
• Toezicht houden op ITP's zoals FAT en type tests.
• Uitvoeren van inspecties zoals FAT en tests namens TenneT.
• Reizen naar productielocaties door heel Europa.
• Ondersteunen via video-inspecties zoals HoloLens.

About TenneT, the Unit, Department and Team

TenneT is a leading European Transmission System Operator (TSO) and plays a vital role in the energy transition. With more than 23,500 kilometers of high‑voltage connections and approximately 5,000 employees, TenneT ensures a secure and reliable electricity supply in the Netherlands and large parts of Germany. You will be working within the Large Projects Offshore Netherlands (LON) organization, specifically within the Portfolio L&T H Project Management department. This department is responsible for the successful delivery of large-scale offshore grid connection projects that are essential for integrating renewable energy into the transmission network. Within the department, you will support offshore projects during the manufacturing and quality assurance phases of complex electrical, instrumentation and control systems supplied by EPC contractors and their vendors. Your work contributes directly to the safe, timely and compliant realization of offshore grid infrastructure.

The Role

How do you help keep the Netherlands powered? As an Inspector (Instrumentation, Control & Electrical), you will be responsible for monitoring, inspecting and verifying the quality of vendor‑manufactured electrical, control and instrumentation equipment for offshore projects. You ensure that all deliverables comply with TenneT's Employer Requirements, applicable standards and contractual obligations.

Your responsibilities include:

• Supporting the Site Package Lead (SPL) and QC Coordinator in reviewing quality deliverables such as as-built documentation, punch lists and test procedures submitted by vendors.
• Supporting discipline teams in resolving technical and quality‑related issues concerning electrical, control and instrumentation systems.
• Monitoring the execution of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) specified by the EPC Contractor during the manufacturing phase.
• Performing inspection activities including Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), routine tests and type tests on behalf of TenneT.
• Travelling frequently to manufacturing locations across Europe.
• Facilitating and supporting remote inspections through video‑based technologies such as HoloLens.
• Reporting, tracking and monitoring quality‑related issues, including NCRs and open points.
• Verifying implementation of TenneT Employer Requirements regarding electrical, instrumentation and control equipment.
• Coordinating inspection results, ITP follow‑up actions and quality matters with the TenneT QC Coordinator.
• Producing structured inspection reports and maintaining oversight of findings, observations and corrective actions.
• Working closely with project management, quality management, engineering disciplines, EPC contractors, vendors and other stakeholders across the project organization.

What Do You Bring? Experience & Knowledge

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in a Quality Control inspection, auditing or similar quality assurance role.
• Experience in offshore projects within the Oil & Gas, Renewables or Shipping industry.
• Experience reviewing and preparing Quality Control Plans, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and test procedures.
• Familiarity with EPC contracts, preferably FIDIC Silver Book contracts.
• Strong knowledge of international codes and standards such as BS, IEC, ISO, API, ATEX, EEMUA and relevant European regulations for electrical equipment and machinery.
• Experience inspecting a broad range of electrical, control and instrumentation systems, including:
  • Digital network testing
  • Digital security testing
  • Switchgear
  • Distribution boards
  • Motor Control Centres (MCC)
  • Variable Speed Drives (VSD)
  • Insulation testing
  • Conductivity testing
  • Earthing verification
  • EMC compliance testing
• HBO/Bachelor level education in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Control Engineering or a related technical discipline.

Important

• This role combines document reviews at the TenneT office with extensive quality inspections at vendor locations throughout Europe.
• Approximately 80% of the assignment may involve travel and onsite inspections.
• Frequent international travel, including occasional weekend travel, is required.
• Experience in vendor quality surveillance and manufacturing inspections is essential.
• Candidates must be capable of independently representing TenneT during inspections and testing activities.
