Job summary

1UP Talent is seeking an Inspector (Instrumentation, Control & Electrical) to monitor and verify the quality of electrical, control and instrumentation equipment for offshore projects. You will ensure compliance with Employer Requirements, standards and contractual obligations.

Responsibilities include reviewing as-built docs, punch lists and test procedures, supporting discipline teams, monitoring ITPs, and performing FAT and routine tests across Europe.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years in Quality Control inspection or similar QA role.
• Experience in Oil & Gas, Renewables or Shipping offshore projects.
• Experience reviewing Quality Control Plans, ITPs and test procedures.
• Familiarity with EPC contracts, preferably FIDIC Silver Book.
• Knowledge of BS, IEC, ISO, API, ATEX, EEMUA and European regulations for electrical equipment.
• Experience inspecting electrical, instrumentation systems including MCC, VSD, insulation, EMC testing.

Job Title Inspector (Instrumentation, Control & Electrical)

Role Summary

As an Inspector (Instrumentation, Control & Electrical) you will monitor, inspect and verify the quality of manufactured electrical, control and instrumentation equipment for offshore projects, ensuring compliance with Employer Requirements, applicable standards and contractual obligations.

Key Responsibilities

• Support review of quality deliverables such as as-built documentation, punch lists and test procedures.
• Support discipline teams in resolving technical and quality-related issues for electrical, control and instrumentation systems.
• Monitor execution of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) during manufacturing.
• Perform inspection activities including Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), routine tests and type tests on behalf of the employer.
• Travel frequently to manufacturing locations across Europe and facilitate/support remote inspections using video-based technologies (e.g. HoloLens).
• Report, track and monitor quality-related issues, including NCRs and open points; verify implementation of Employer Requirements for electrical, instrumentation and control equipment.
• Coordinate inspection results, ITP follow-up actions and quality matters with the QC Coordinator and produce structured inspection reports.
• Independently represent the employer during inspections and testing activities.

Experience & Knowledge

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in Quality Control inspection, auditing or similar quality assurance roles.
• Experience in offshore projects within Oil & Gas, Renewables or Shipping industries.
• Experience reviewing and preparing Quality Control Plans, ITPs and test procedures.
• Familiarity with EPC contracts, preferably FIDIC Silver Book.
• Strong knowledge of international codes and standards (e.g. BS, IEC, ISO, API, ATEX, EEMUA) and relevant European regulations for electrical equipment and machinery.
• Experience inspecting a broad range of electrical, control and instrumentation systems, including digital network testing, digital security testing, switchgear, distribution boards, Motor Control Centres (MCC), Variable Speed Drives (VSD), insulation testing, conductivity testing, earthing verification and EMC compliance testing.
• HBO/Bachelor level education in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Control Engineering or a related technical discipline.

Competencies

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities; able to identify issues and propose practical corrective and recovery actions.
• Able to work independently while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong reporting and documentation skills; ability to maintain overview during inspections with multiple findings and stakeholders.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken); Dutch is an advantage but not mandatory.

Practical Information

• Travel: Extensive travel to vendor/manufacturing locations across Europe (approximately 80% of the assignment); frequent international travel including occasional weekend travel.
• Working time: 32–40 hours per week; full-time availability required.
• Location: Duty station in the Netherlands; candidate must reside in the Netherlands.
• Other: Valid driving license for use within the Netherlands and Europe. Suitable for self-employed contractors (ZZP).

Eisen

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in a Quality Control inspection, auditing or similar quality assurance role
• HBO/Bachelor level education in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Control Engineering or a related technical discipline
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken
• Valid driving license for use within the Netherlands and Europe
• Residing in the Netherlands
• Experience in vendor quality surveillance and manufacturing inspections is essential
• Candidates must be capable of independently representing TenneT during inspections and testing activities
• Full-time availability required
• CV must be submitted in English
• Pre-Employment Screening (PES) is mandatory before the start of the assignment and may take up to six weeks
• The candidate may only start after successful completion of the screening process
• The candidate must possess a valid passport or identity card, which must be valid during both the interview process and the entire assignment period
• The candidate must be available for the full duration of the assignment
