Job summary

One Frio in Amsterdam is hiring an Infrastructure & Modern Workplace Lead to own the IT infrastructure, network, and Microsoft 365 modern workplace across a fast-growing, PE-backed international group. The role is hands-on and reports to the Group IT Director.

You will define standards, coordinate external partners, drive security, and automate using PowerShell and IaC, shaping how the group scales its IT as it grows through acquisitions. Based in Amsterdam with regular travel to other sites.

Qualifications

• 3+ years hands-on experience across IT infrastructure, networking, modern workplace, or cloud engineering.
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong networking fundamentals: LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, VLANs, firewalls.
• Windows Server, virtualization, and hybrid (on-premise / Azure) environments.
• Solid working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Autopilot, and the Defender stack.
• Strong PowerShell and automation skills; Infrastructure as Code is a plus.
• Experience with MSPs/partners delivering across multiple environments.
• Systems-thinking with a root-cause mindset; automation preferred.
• Microsoft certifications (MD-102, MS-102, AZ-104) desirable; ITIL is a plus.
• English is required; Dutch is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define Group infrastructure and network standards across a multi-entity estate.
• Own the Microsoft 365 and modern workplace environment across multiple tenants, including cross-tenant collaboration and security policies.
• Coordinate and direct our Modern Workplace solution provider and local IT partners; set priorities and ensure standards.
• Keep our security posture actively managed: Defender, EDR, vulnerability management.
• Automate and standardise using PowerShell and Infrastructure as Code to reduce configuration drift.
• Advise on sourcing model: what we own internally vs. partner-delivered, and govern partners.
• Assess and onboard IT environments of newly acquired companies to Group standards (M&A).

The Role

We are hiring an Infrastructure & Modern Workplace Lead, to own the IT infrastructure, network, and Microsoft 365 modern workplace environment of a fast-growing, PE-backed international group. This role is hands-on, with real influence over how the IT landscape is built, standardised, and sourced. Based in Amsterdam, this role will report to the Group IT Director.

This is a role for an experienced engineer ready to step up - someone who wants to keep working hands-on in the technology while owning standards, directing external partners, and shaping how a growing group organises its IT.

Our central Group IT team is being built as a Centre of Excellence: a small team of specialists driving standardisation, integration, and governance across the Group. This newly created, senior role owns three connected domains: the network and infrastructure foundation, the modern workplace built on it, and the security operations underpinning both.

What you will do

• Define Group infrastructure and network standards - networking, server environments, backup, patching, monitoring - and drive standardisation across a multi-entity estate
• Own the Microsoft 365 and modern workplace environment across multiple tenants - Entra ID, Intune, Autopilot, Conditional Access, Defender - including cross-tenant collaboration and security policies
• Coordinate and direct our Modern Workplace solution provider and local IT partners - setting priorities, reviewing quality, and holding partners to agreed standards
• Keep our security posture actively managed - Defender stack, EDR, alert triage, and vulnerability management across all entities
• Automate and standardise - PowerShell, scripting, policy-as-configuration - eliminating recurring work and configuration drift at root cause
• Advise on our sourcing model - what we own internally versus deliver through partners - and help select and govern the partners we work with
• Assess and onboard the IT environments of newly acquired companies to Group standards - M&A is a core part of our growth

What you will bring

• 3+ years of hands-on experience across IT infrastructure, networking, modern workplace, or cloud engineering - multi-site, multi-entity, or MSP/multi-customer experience is a strong advantage
• Bachelor's degree (or HBO-level equivalent) in Information Technology or a related discipline; equivalent practical experience is equally valued
• Deep networking fundamentals - LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, VLANs, firewalls - enough to set standards and govern network providers credibly
• Windows Server, virtualisation, and hybrid (on-premise / Azure) environments - deep working knowledge, in an estate moving progressively to cloud-first patterns
• Solid working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Autopilot, and the Defender stack; multi-tenant experience is a plus
• Strong PowerShell and automation skills; Infrastructure as Code experience is a plus
• Experience working with or within managed service providers - directing partners, or delivering across multiple customer environments
• A systems-thinking, root-cause mindset - you'd rather automate something properly once than fix it manually twenty times
• Microsoft certifications (MD-102, MS-102, AZ-104 or similar) are desirable; ITIL is a plus.
• English is required; Dutch is a plus
