Job summary

Tangent International is urgently seeking a Telecom / Fibre Backbone Engineer to work on a 12 month rolling contract in the Netherlands (Breda). The role involves on-site technical work at telecom sites, independently managing tasks with remote support as needed and migrating microwave links to fiber connections under guidance.

You will also handle cabinet swaps, patching, and fiber verification. Requirements include completed telecommunications education or a comparable technical qualification,

Qualifications

• Completed telecommunications education or a comparable technical qualification.
• Several years of experience in telecommunications engineering.
• Proven experience with fiber backbone technology; FTTH-only experience is not sufficient.
• Good knowledge of telecom infrastructures and fiber optic networks.
• Experience with fiber patching, cleaning, and testing.
• Knowledge of and experience with DWDM principles.
• Basic knowledge of working with command-based scripts.

Responsibilities

• Carry out technical work at telecommunications sites.
• Work largely independently on-site and with remote support when needed.
• Migrate microwave links to fiber optic connections under remote guidance.
• Supervise and carry out telecom cabinet swaps, install new equipment and perform patching.
• Connect and verify fiber optic links and troubleshoot optical connections.
