Job summary

The Netherlands Helsinki Committee (NHC) seeks a Human Rights and Communications Intern to assist Programme Officers in managing external communications for Catalyst of Change and Rule of Law Training projects. The internship runs for 4–6 months, with a possible project-based component decided with a supervisor.

The role involves supporting social media, newsletters, event organization, interview-based stories, and website content updates.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a Bachelor or Master degree in Journalism, Communications, Political Science, International Relations, Social Sciences, or related degree.
  • Excellent social media skills and ability to write clearly for various audiences.
  • Visually creative with Canva; familiarity with WordPress and InDesign is an asset.
  • Excellent command of English; knowledge of languages from Catalyst of Change countries is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support general communication activities: social media, newsletters, reports, events, and admin tasks.
  • Map activities of Catalyst of Change partners and craft outputs.
  • Conduct interviews and write up success stories from Rule of Law training participants.
  • Maintain content on the website with input from Communications Manager and staff.
  • Contribute to the communications strategy and content planning for programmes.
