Job summary

The Netherlands Helsinki Committee (NHC) in The Hague seeks a Security and Human Rights Intern to support the HRD, IA and SHRM programs for 4–6 months. A project component can be arranged with your supervisor.

You will assist with academic publishing, journal production, communications, event support and building external networks. A small stipend of €400/month for a 32-hour week is offered; non-EU candidates require a valid work permit.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a bachelor or master degree in journalism, communications, political science, international relations or social sciences.
• Excellent social media skills and strong written English; Dutch is a plus.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated affinity with civil society work and social change.
• Excellent communication and intercultural sensitivity.

Responsibilities

• Assist in producing an academic journal for the SHRM through initial article assessments and coordination with authors and reviewers.
• Coordinate communications: reports, website updates, newsletters, events, and admin support.
• Support IA and HRD programmes, including MATRA Rule of Law trainings.
• Engage with partners and broaden external networks.
