Job summary

Jan Luyken Amsterdam is seeking a dedicated House Host trainee to gain hands-on experience across hotel departments. You will be the first contact for guests, assist with self-check-in, breakfast service, table setup, and keep the reception running smoothly with a friendly, service-oriented attitude.

This internship runs 5–6 months for MBO/HBO students enrolled in a study program. You’ll work alternating shifts, benefit from the Tailor Made Traineeship, and enjoy a range of perks including a

• Requires enrollment in a university or school program for the duration of the internship.
• Must be enrolled in a Dutch or EU study program.
• MBO/HBO or Bachelor level training.
• Fluent in Dutch and English.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

You are the first contact for our guests and provide them with all the information they need. You will help guests with the self-check in, explain where they can find the best museums and what else is going on in the city. The next day you are up early, because you help out in the breakfast shift. You make sure the breakfast buffet is ready, set tables and clear them. Afterwards you go to the reception desk and guests will thank you at check out for your friendly service. As a trainee all-round, not one day is the same at our hotel. And that's what makes your internship so much fun! You enjoy the enthusiasm of the guests and do everything to provide them with excellent service. Because if you are happy, so are your guests!

Job Requirements

WHO ARE YOU?

• You are easy to get along with and have a friendly, hospitable attitude.
• You can deal with stress and always work detailed.
• You are flexible.
• You enjoy working in a team but can also work independently.
• You are following a relevant MBO (Vocational study) training level 1-4 or HBO (Bachelor)
• You are fluent in Dutch and English.
• Good command of English is preferred.
• Alternating shifts are great for you.
• You are available to do internship for 5-6 months
• Be informed that you need to be enrolled in a university or school program to apply be qualified for this internship.
• You need to have a valid Dutch working permit

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU ?

• As a MBO student you will receive an internship fee based on €750,- gross per month fulltime, which consists of a €650,- internship fee and an €80,- expense fee. We use variable payment periods of 4 or 5 weeks at a time, according to the number of days and hours worked. So one month you will get a little less and the next month a little more.
