This is a rare opportunity to take real ownership of hardware within a fast-moving tech environment. You will have the autonomy to shape how hardware is delivered, influence product decisions, and help create structure in a space where your impact will be visible from day one.
The Company
They are a growing technology business operating at the intersection of robotics, hardware, sensors, and software. Their products combine mechanical design, embedded systems, and intelligent software to deliver high‑performance solutions. The organisation is scaling its hardware capability and is looking for someone who can bring clarity, structure, and hands‑on expertise to a fast-paced environment. You will join a collaborative team where the hardware function is still evolving, giving you plenty of room to influence the long‑term direction.
The Role
- Lead and oversee hardware activities across mechanical, sensor, and embedded elements.
- Prioritise work, create structure, and guide others without the need for formal line management.
- Work hands‑on to diagnose and solve hardware challenges independently.
- Collaborate closely with an external mechanical design consultancy and internal software and embedded teams.
- Contribute to the development of future hardware processes and potentially support team growth.
- Ensure smooth integration between mechanical components, sensors, and supporting software systems.
Your Skills and Experience
- Strong commercial experience in hardware engineering across mechanical, robotics, or mechatronic systems.
- Confident working independently in a fast‑paced, ambiguity‑heavy environment.
- Experience solving complex hardware issues with ownership and a practical mindset.
- Exposure to embedded systems, sensors, or robotics tooling.
- Ability to create structure, define priorities, and drive hardware work forward.
- Comfortable collaborating with both internal teams and external engineering partners.
- Software experience such as Python is a plus.
What They Offer
- Competitive salary package.
- High autonomy and the freedom to shape hardware strategy and vision.
- Opportunity to make a tangible impact in a robotics‑driven product environment.
- A blend of hardware, software, and robotics challenges.
- Career growth potential as the hardware function evolves.
