Job description

Capgemini Engineering

At Capgemini Engineering, the world leader in engineering services, we bring together a global team of engineers, scientists, and architects to help the world’s most innovative companies unleash their potential. From autonomous cars to life‑saving robots, our digital and software technology experts think outside the box as they provide unique R&D and engineering services across all industries. Join us for a career full of opportunities, where you can make a difference and no two days are the same.

Joining Capgemini's Hardware team

You will be joining a team of passionate engineers working at the cutting edge of high‑tech mechanical design. Based in Eindhoven, the heart of Europe’s semiconductor and high‑tech industry, you will be embedded in a world‑leading OEM environment, delivering complex mechanical design work that directly shapes the products of tomorrow. This is a role for a driven, experienced engineer ready to take full ownership of their work, raise standards, and take the next step towards a Lead Engineer position.

Your role

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer. You are responsible for delivering mechanical design solutions throughout the entire product lifecycle, from concept development and detailed design to release, implementation, and continuous product support.

Key Responsibilities Include
  • Mechanical Design & Development – Execute mechanical design activities based on project scope or backlog, translating requirements into practical engineering solutions. Develop concept, preliminary, and detailed designs using CAD tools (preferably Siemens NX), perform feasibility studies and trade‑off analyses, and define mechanical components, tools, and systems while balancing functionality, manufacturability, safety, cost, and lead time.
  • Technical Documentation & Data Management – Create and maintain 3D models, engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and Technical Product Documentation (TPD). Manage engineering data and implement design changes using PLM/PDM systems such as Teamcenter and SAP, ensuring traceability and adherence to change management processes.
  • Engineering Analysis & Product Lifecycle Support – Perform tolerance analyses (GD&T), mechanical calculations, risk assessments, and design verification activities. Support products throughout the full lifecycle, ensuring technical quality and compliance with engineering standards.
  • Technical Leadership & Collaboration – Identify technical risks, dependencies, and interface issues, driving mitigation actions where required. Lead and contribute to design reviews, technical discussions, and alignment sessions, while collaborating closely with Lead Engineers, Project Managers, suppliers, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Coaching & Continuous Improvement – Review engineering work, provide constructive feedback, and support less experienced engineers through technical guidance and mentorship. Facilitate knowledge sharing, contribute to improving engineering methods, and take ownership of specific technical topics or work packages.
Your profile

We are looking for a mechanically skilled, hands‑on, proactive engineer who thrives in a dynamic high‑tech environment and enjoys taking ownership from concept through delivery. You are adaptable across different project types, reliable in execution, and capable of driving work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, or a related field, with at least 5 years of experience in mechanical design and development within a high‑tech environment.
  • Proven experience working in multidisciplinary project teams and delivering high‑quality design work independently, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
Technical Expertise
  • Hands‑on experience with CAD tools (preferably Siemens NX) and PLM/PDM systems such as Teamcenter or SAP.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, system integration, GD&T, tolerance analysis, manufacturing processes, material selection, and engineering standards.
  • Experience with design for manufacturability, industrialisation, mechanical calculations (strength, kinematics, basic FEM), technical documentation, change management, design verification, testing, validation, risk assessments, and FMEA.
  • Able to translate requirements into practical design concepts and resolve complex or conflicting technical requirements.
Personal Competencies
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a structured approach to organising and executing work.
  • Able to balance attention to technical detail with maintaining an overall project perspective.
  • Proactive, ownership‑driven, and comfortable making decisions in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines and influence decisions without formal authority.
  • Quality‑focused, safety‑conscious, and committed to continuous improvement.
Requirements
  • Fluent in English (minimum C1 level).
  • Due to client screening requirements, candidates must hold a NATO or EU nationality.
What We Offer
  • Competitive compensation, a mobility budget of €850 per month, work from home allowance and connectivity compensation. Capgemini contributes significantly to your pension. (Visa sponsorship is not offered for this role.)
  • 8% holiday allowance and 26 vacation days, with an option to purchase additional leave.
  • Annual bonus based on performance.
  • Full‑time role is 40 hours per week, with flexible options for 36 or 32 hours to provide maximum flexibility.
  • Flexible working hours and hybrid working options to support your lifestyle and well‑being.
  • Access to career development programs, certifications, and digital learning platforms.
  • A workplace recognized by Ethisphere as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies.
  • Active employee networks that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, such as OutFront, CapAbility, and Women@Capgemini.
What You’ll Love About Working Here
  • High‑impact work: Take on a project within a high‑profile programme at a world‑leading semiconductor OEM, working on technology that shapes industries globally.
  • Clear career progression: A defined pathway towards Lead Engineer and Principal/Architect grades, with support and visibility to advance.
  • Learning & development: Access to Capgemini’s global learning and certification ecosystem, including funded professional qualifications.
  • Inspiring colleagues: A collaborative, intellectually stimulating environment with engineers from across Europe and beyond.
