Job summary

JEK recruitment B.V. is assisting an international life-science/technology company in Amsterdam in finding a hands-on General Ledger Accountant.

You will own the general ledger, perform journal entries and reconciliations, and prepare monthly statements to keep the books accurate and audit-ready. In this role you’ll oversee AP/AR, support month- and year-end close, VAT returns, and internal/external audits, while driving improvements across systems.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or similar.
• 4-7 years' experience in accounting or finance operations, ideally in an international or commercial environment.
• Solid knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls and audit processes.
• ERP experience (a modern cloud ERP is a plus) and strong Excel skills.
• Independent, organised and a clear communicator at all levels.
• Fluent English; Dutch or another European language is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the general ledger: journal entries, bank and account reconciliations, and monthly financial statements
• Oversee AP and AR, including debtor follow‑up, and step in where the team needs you
• Support month‑end and year‑end closing, VAT returns and statutory/management reporting
• Be the go‑to person for internal and external audits and for internal control documentation
• Spot and drive process improvements and automation across systems and workflows
• Work closely with colleagues in Finance, HR, Operations and IT
