Job summary

The Social Hub, a hybrid hospitality group with hotels, coworking spaces, and student living facilities across Europe, seeks an GL Accountant to own multiple ManCo accounting closes and intercompany activity. You will partner with treasury, tax and financial control to deliver accurate monthly reporting.

You will contribute to VAT compliance, balance sheet reconciliations, and internal controls, while driving process improvements and system enhancements with the Finance team.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in accounting or financial control roles, ideally with ManCo or corporate accounting exposure.
• Experience in a large multinational finance department preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS, VAT and intercompany processes.
• Ability to think process-oriented and suggest improvements on the go.
• Excellent English communication; Dutch or Spanish is a plus.
• Strong documentation, organization and deadline-management; advanced Excel; ERP experience (NetSuite a bonus).

Responsibilities

• Own monthly closing for one or more ManCo entities, posting journals and accruals.
• Prepare and review reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
• Perform intercompany reconciliations and intercompany recharge postings.
• Prepare VAT returns and ensure compliance with local tax authorities.
• Conduct monthly P&L reviews with GMs and Controllers and communicate results clearly.
• Support audits and liaise with external auditors during close and year-end.
• Contribute to improving corporate processes, controls and reporting.
• Assist cross-functional initiatives like automation of allocation files or reporting improvements.

As our GL Accountant, you’ll play a key role in the financial operations of The Social Hub, a growing hybrid hospitality group with hotels, restaurants, coworking spaces, and student living facilities in multiple locations across Europe (United Kingdom included).

In this role, your primary focus will be on our Management Companies (ManCo), the corporate engine that supports our operational hubs. You will be an integral part of the Finance team, working closely with colleagues across treasury, tax, financial control, and operational departments to manage corporate overhead, shared services, and centralized payroll. You will take ownership of the accounting close process for multiple ManCo entities and ensure compliance with our internal controls and external reporting obligations.

You will collaborate with the General Ledger Team Lead and Financial Controllers to deliver accurate, timely, and complete financial reporting. You’ll actively support month-end activities, audits, VAT compliance, and complex intercompany accounting, while contributing to the continuous improvement of our corporate systems and finance operations.

What You'll Do

• Take ownership of monthly closing activities for one or more ManCo entities by posting journal entries, including accruals for corporate operational and professional expenses, centralized payroll-related items, and other relevant transactions.
• Prepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations monthly, ensuring supporting documentation and follow-up on open items.
• Perform complex intercompany accounts reconciliations and ensure timely, accurate recharges for shared services, management fees, loans, and interest to our operational entities.
• Prepare and review VAT returns for corporate entities and ensure compliance with other local tax authorities and internal deadlines.
• Conduct monthly P&L reviews with General Managers and Controllers, ensuring corporate costs and intercompany allocations are complete, accurate, and clearly communicated.
• Support the preparation of audit deliverables and engage with external auditors during hard close and year-end.
• Actively contribute to improving corporate processes, workflows, and internal controls in collaboration with the Financial Control team.
• Support ad hoc cross-functional initiatives when needed, such as automation efforts for allocation files, system enhancements, or reporting improvements.

Who You Are

• You have a degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 3+ years of working experience in accounting or financial control roles, ideally with exposure to corporate or ManCo accounting.
• You have experience working in the finance department of a large, multinational organization.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP, IFRS), VAT, and intercompany processes.
• You can think process-oriented and are able to come up with improvements on the go.
• You have great English communication skills (Dutch or Spanish is an advantage).
• Strong documentation, organization, and deadline-management abilities.
• Strong Excel skills and preferably ERP experience (NetSuite experience is considered a bonus).
