Job summary

APL Logistics in Amsterdam seeks a General Manager to own and further develop the newly established warehouse operation, ensuring outstanding performance, efficiency and service delivery. • Proven experience leading warehouse start-up or transformation projects.
• Minimum 7 years in 3PL warehousing with 3+ years in a leadership role.
• Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and P&L reporting.
• Hands-on leadership with team-building capabilities.
• Deep understanding of logistics operations, warehouse systems, and continuous improvement.

We’re looking for a colleague to join our Amsterdam warehouse team in the position of General Manager. In this role, you will take ownership of and further develop our newly established warehouse operation in Amsterdam, ensuring outstanding performance, efficiency, and service delivery. Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the setup and operational launch of a new warehouse facility, including layout planning, process design, and equipment readiness
• Build and structure a high-performing team through recruitment, onboarding, and training
• Manage all aspects of warehouse operations, including labor planning, customer service, and financial performance
• Ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, and regulatory standards while applying Lean/5S methodologies
• Maintain strong client relationships and ensure service levels meet or exceed expectations
• Monitor KPIs and financial metrics to drive profitability and operational efficiency

What we are looking for:

• Proven experience in warehouse start-up or transformation projects
• Minimum 7 years of experience in 3PL warehousing and 3+ years in a leadership role
• Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and P&L reporting
• Strong leadership and team-building capabilities, with a hands-on approach
• Deep understanding of logistics operations, warehouse systems, and continuous improvement methodologies. Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS); Manhattan WMi experience is a plus
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a clear focus on results

The typical salary range for this position is: €66.608 - €102.474 (paid on 13-month salaries + holiday allowance)
