Job summary

JEK recruitment B.V. is seeking a strong GL Accountant to own payroll accounting as a core part of our finance function in Amsterdam.

You will ensure the accounting side is accurate, validate data sent to our external payroll provider, and review the provider’s output before posting to the ledger. Beyond payroll, you’ll support month-end close, reconciliations, reporting, and ad hoc projects within the Finance team, reporting to the Finance Manager – EMEA and coordinating with the payroll

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience working with or reviewing output from an external payroll provider is a strong plus; no payroll-law expertise required.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and standard finance/expense platforms.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical ability.
• Well-organised, structured, and able to manage multiple deadlines with attention to detail.
• Native fluency in English; additional European languages preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post payroll journals and reconcile payroll reports and general ledger accounts.
• Validate payroll data before submission to the external payroll provider and review output for accuracy.
• Ensure variable compensation (stock options, RSUs, bonuses, commissions) is correctly reflected in the accounts.
• Maintain audit-ready payroll records and general ledger documentation; support audits.
• Act as the internal contact on payroll accounting matters with the external payroll provider and Finance leadership.
• Review and process expense reports and ensure timely payment.
• Support month-end close, reconciliations, reporting, and finance projects as needed.
