General Accountant: Global Payroll & Reporting Lead

Job summary

Sensorfact, Europe’s #1 smart monitoring platform for the industry, is seeking a General Accountant in Utrecht to own critical accounting workflows and ensure accurate financial reporting. You will manage payroll, debtor relations, and close processes while collaborating with ABB and internal department heads.

You will lead month-end and year-end close, perform reconciliations, and prepare P&L analyses and variance reports to support data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of local accounting principles (Dutch GAAP, US GAAP, IFRS).
• Proficiency in modern ERP/accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
• Fluency in English; Dutch proficiency is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounts receivable, including debt collection and minimizing outstanding balances.
• Oversee payroll processing and bonus calculations, including commissions.
• Perform bank, ledger, and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure data integrity.
• Input and track sales factor data in collaboration with HR and Revenue operations.
• Account for and report on foreign subsidiaries (Spain & Germany).
• Execute ad hoc improvement projects.
• Lead or assist month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes.
• Prepare financial statements, P&L analyses, and variance analyses for decision making.
• Ensure compliance with Dutch tax laws and accounting standards (Dutch GAAP/IFRS/USGAAP).
• Identify opportunities to automate workflows and strengthen internal controls.
