Shelby Transportation is seeking a Fleet Mechanic to perform operation, maintenance, and repair of the city’s fleet, including sedans, light trucks, heavy trucks, and related equipment. You will work under the general direction of the Fleet Maintenance Manager to diagnose issues, execute preventive maintenance, and uphold safety standards.
The role requires a solid technical background, with education in heavy truck/equipment diesel repair and several years of hands-on vehicle experience.
Under the general direction of the Fleet Maintenance Manager, the Fleet Mechanic is tasked with the operation, maintenance and repair of the City’s fleet; including sedans, light trucks, heavy trucks and miscellaneous equipment.
An example of acceptable qualifications: Completion of secondary education (high school or GED); graduate of a two-year technical school for heavy truck/equipment diesel repair. three (3) years’ experience as a skilled technician, minimum of two (2) years’ experience in heavy equipment repair, minimum of two (2) years’ experience in standard passenger vehicle repair or any combination of training, education, or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Must possess a valid State of Ohio driver’s license (Class B or higher) and remain insurable under the City’s vehicle insurance policy; must have A.S.E. certification as a Master Mechanic or to be obtain within one (1) year of hire.
