Job summary

Shelby Transportation is seeking a Fleet Mechanic to perform operation, maintenance, and repair of the city’s fleet, including sedans, light trucks, heavy trucks, and related equipment. You will work under the general direction of the Fleet Maintenance Manager to diagnose issues, execute preventive maintenance, and uphold safety standards.

The role requires a solid technical background, with education in heavy truck/equipment diesel repair and several years of hands-on vehicle experience.

Qualifications

• Completion of secondary education (high school or GED).
• Graduate of a two-year technical school for heavy truck/equipment diesel repair.
• Three years’ experience as a skilled technician, minimum of two years’ experience in heavy equipment repair, minimum of two years’ experience in standard passenger vehicle repair or any combination of training, education, or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
