Job summary

MediaMarktSaturn Plattform Services GmbH in Rotterdam is seeking a Financial Controller Specialist to coordinate budgeting and forecasting for the Benelux region in collaboration with our headquarters in Germany.

You will manage budgets, ensure data accuracy across P&L and balance sheet, participate in month-end closing, and provide insightful variance analyses to stakeholders.

A bachelor’s or master’s in Finance, 2–4 years FP&A experience, strong Excel skills and English proficiency are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or related field.
• 2–4 years of relevant experience in financial controlling, FP&A, or accounting.
• Experience in retail, wholesale, or logistics is a plus.
• Strong Excel skills and experience with financial models and reporting systems.
• Excellent English communication, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and support budgeting and forecasting cycles for the Benelux region.
• Ensure budget and forecast figures are uploaded into relevant systems with data accuracy.
• Act as key contact for budget/forecast topics and gather input from stakeholders.
• Maintain coordination with headquarters in Germany for alignment and reporting.
• Participate in monthly closing, analyze P&L results, and report variances.
• Provide insights to Controlling and stakeholders and support ad hoc analyses.

Your scope of work

As Financial Controller Specialist at MediaMarkt, you will play an important role in coordinating the budgeting and forecasting processes for the Benelux region. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and our headquarters in Germany to ensure accurate financial planning, reliable reporting, and alignment across the business.

Your main responsibilities include:

• Budgeting & Forecasting: Coordinate and support the budget and forecasting cycles for the Benelux region, collecting and consolidating input from various stakeholders across the business.
• Financial Systems & Data Management: Ensure that budget and forecast figures for the P&L and Balance Sheet are accurately uploaded into the relevant systems, maintaining data consistency and alignment with agreed financial plans.
• Stakeholder Management: Act as a key point of contact for budget and forecasting-related topics, following up with stakeholders to gather input, validate assumptions, and ensure timely delivery of financial information.
• Headquarters Coordination: Maintain close contact with our headquarters in Germany regarding budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and related financial processes, ensuring alignment between local and group-level requirements.
• Month-end Closing: Actively participate in the monthly closing process by preparing, analyzing, and reporting P&L results.
• Financial Analysis: Analyze variances between actual results, budgets, and forecasts, identify key drivers, and share relevant insights with the controlling team and stakeholders.
• Financial Reporting: Support the preparation of regular financial reporting packages for our headquarters in Germany, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
• Internal Controls: Maintain strong internal controls and ensure efficient daily, weekly, and monthly controlling routines.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to optimize budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes, and contribute to ad hoc financial analyses and projects.

• A bachelor's or master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of relevant experience in financial controlling, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), or accounting.
• Experience in retail, wholesale, or logistics is a plus.
• Strong Excel skills and experience working with financial models and reporting systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• A proactive, solution-oriented attitude and a strong sense of responsibility.
• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy under pressure.
