Job summary

Intelic is looking for a hands-on finance professional to take ownership of day-to-day accounting and treasury for the Dutch entity, while partnering with the Head of Finance. You will manage invoicing, VAT, and monthly close, and work with external advisors as the company grows.

The role offers growth into FP&A and a chance to automate processes using AI tools. You should have 3+ years in accounting or a similar finance role, be fluent in English (Dutch preferred), and be based near Amsterdam

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in accounting or a similar finance role.
• Comfortable with both treasury/operational finance and accounting/control duties.
• Knowledge of Exact Online and Dutch GAAP and VAT rules.

Responsibilities

• Process and reconcile invoices and bank transactions in Exact Online.
• Be the first point of contact for day-to-day finance questions.
• Coordinate with HR on payroll processing and resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare and file VAT returns.
• Run the monthly close: journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, reporting.
• Coordinate with external accountant, tax advisors, and auditors.
• Identify and fix process improvements using AI or tooling.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting as the company scales.

At Intelic, we build advanced software for unmanned systems in the defense sector. Based in Amsterdam — with a second office in Kyiv — we are a fast-growing team of engineers and domain experts developing Nexus — an intelligence platform that gives unmanned systems the speed, coordination, and reliability that critical missions demand.

Why this role exists

Our finance function is small by design — and it works. Now we need someone to take full ownership of the day-to-day so the Head of Finance can focus on the bigger picture. You'll be the second person in the finance team, running the operational and accounting side of the Dutch entity. The role covers both treasury (invoicing, payments, expense approvals, being the internal go-to for finance questions) and accounting control (monthly close, VAT, reconciliations) — roughly 50/50 today, shifting more toward accounting as treasury processes get increasingly automated.

What you will own

• Process and reconcile purchase invoices, sales invoices, and bank transactions in Exact Online

• Be the first point of contact for day-to-day finance questions internally — people come to you directly

• Coordinate with HR on payroll processing and resolve discrepancies

• Prepare and file VAT returns

• Run the monthly close — journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and reporting

• Coordinate with our external accountant, tax advisors, and auditors

• Spot processes that could be faster or better, and actually fix them — you'll have the space and budget to do it

• As the company scales, pick up budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting

What success looks like in your first year

• Fully own the bookkeeping and monthly close — clean, on time, without supervision

• VAT filings and reconciliations are consistently accurate

• Automated at least one process using AI or tooling

• Started picking up budgeting or forecasting and shown you're ready for more
  

You will thrive here if

• You have 3+ years of experience in accounting or a similar finance role

• You're equally comfortable with the operational/treasury side of finance and the accounting/control side — this role genuinely needs both

• You know Exact Online and are familiar with Dutch GAAP and VAT/BTW rules

• You get a bit obsessive about things not adding up — and you follow through until they do

• You're genuinely excited about using AI and automation in finance — ideally this matters to you more than ticking every other box

• You're self-sufficient and don't need a lot of hand-holding to figure out what needs doing

• You're fluent in English; Dutch is strongly preferred

• You're based within easy commuting reach of Amsterdam
