Job summary

ZIM Integrated Shipping Services is seeking an experienced Accountant for the Netherlands & Belgium team. You will lead end-to-end accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance while acting as a trusted partner to management across international operations.

You will supervise the accounting team, manage cash flow and internal controls, and drive improvements in reporting and governance to support regional and global finance initiatives. Fluency in English and Dutch is required.

Qualifications

• Certified Accountant with expertise in Finance, Accounting, Reporting, or Tax.
• 10+ years of relevant professional experience in finance or accounting.
• Experience in accounting or finance roles within international or global organizations.
• Strong analytical skills, reliability, and a high standard of professional ethics.
• Team-oriented with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Fluent business-level English and Dutch.
• Experience with SAP; knowledge of the shipping industry is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end accounting operations and financial reporting, ensuring timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual closings in compliance with local regulations and reporting standards.
• Supervise and develop the Finance team by overseeing performance, KPIs, training, and business continuity while contributing to regional and global finance projects.
• Manage cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, internal controls, audits, and SAP finance processes to support efficient financial operations.
• Prepare financial statements, statutory reports, budgets, and periodic financial analyses to support business performance and management decision-making.
• Oversee tax compliance, reporting obligations, and relationships with relevant authorities while ensuring adherence to internal policies and external legal requirements.
• Act as a trusted financial advisor to the Country Manager and provide guidance on financial strategy, risk management, and process improvements.
• Ensure effective management of corporate and administrative matters, including contracts, insurance, and other compliance-related obligations.
• Drive continuous improvement of financial reporting, accounting processes, and internal controls to enhance operational efficiency and governance.

Main Purpose of the role:

• Strong analytical skills, reliability, and a high standard of professional ethics.
• Team-oriented with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Solid knowledge of finance and accounting principles and proficiency in MS Office.
• Experience with SAP; knowledge of the shipping industry is an advantage.
• Fluent business-level English and Dutch.
• Willingness to participate in regional and global finance projects.
