Job summary

Virtuagym invites you to join its Finance team as a Collections Intern in Amsterdam. You’ll gain hands-on experience in Accounts Receivable and customer relations within a fast-growing SaaS company.

This remote-friendly role allows work from home in the Netherlands while collaborating with finance professionals onsite. You’ll develop communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, while supporting daily AR activities and improving collections processes.

Qualifications

Currently studying Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, International Business, or a related field that includes accounting.
You genuinely enjoy talking to people and feel comfortable making phone calls.
You have an outgoing, positive, and confident personality.
You're a natural problem solver who enjoys helping people find solutions.
You're resilient and don't shy away from difficult conversations.
You're organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple follow-ups.
You're interested in finance and eager to build a career in Accounts Receivable or Collections.
Fluent in English and Spanish (spoken and written). Dutch and German are a plus.
Available for a full-time internship for approximately 5–6 months.

Responsibilities

Contact customers by phone and email regarding outstanding invoices.
Build positive and professional relationships with clients.
Inform customers about overdue balances and answer payment-related questions.
Discuss payment solutions and negotiate payment agreements.
Follow up on payment arrangements to ensure commitments are met.
Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and payment plans.
Collaborate with colleagues across the Finance department to improve collection processes.
Support Accounts Receivable activities and other finance-related projects.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and customer experience within the Finance Collections team.

What this internship looks like

As a Finance Collections Intern, you'll gain practical experience in one of the most business-critical areas of finance: helping customers stay on top of their payments while building positive, long-lasting relationships.

Throughout your internship, you'll:

Learn how Accounts Receivable and Collections operate in a fast-growing SaaS company.
Develop strong communication, negotiation, and customer relationship skills.
Work closely with experienced Finance professionals who will coach and support your development.
Contribute to improving our collections processes and customer experience.
Take ownership of meaningful responsibilities from day one.

Bonus points if you have:

Basic knowledge of accounting or bookkeeping.
Previous experience in customer service, hospitality, retail, sales, call centers, or collections.
Experience working with Excel or Google Sheets.
Exposure to ERP or accounting software is a plus.
Experience working with international customers.
