Job description

Recruiting on behalf of a company based in The Hague, Netherlands.

Tasks and duties:

• Respond to breakdown service requests via the internal ticketing system
• Handle installations and maintenance assignments following manufacturer specifications and requirements
• Repair on site or swap modules available in the company vehicle
• Manage stock control for spare parts and modules assigned to the company vehicle
• Troubleshoot technical issues remotely or on site using telemetry and usage data
• Provide weekend standby service (on a rotating basis with other field technicians)
• Support various installation and maintenance projects
• Attend training sessions required for the role

Core Responsibilities & Daily Operations:

Typically 3 to 4 service tickets/calls per day (more if travel distances are short). Standard operating hours cover site availability from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with all extra hours fully paid as overtime.

On-Site Tasks:

• Installations: Setting up, calibrating, and testing new machines, plus a 1-hour basic training session for customer staff
• Repairs & Maintenance: On-site troubleshooting and component replacement when remote fixes aren't possible
• Project Implementations: Participating in large-scale client rollouts across various sectors (retail, hospitality, sports/events, etc.)

This role requires travel. Candidates must reside within a defined geographic area to optimize travel times (previous coverage was too concentrated around headquarters, leading to excessive travel).

The technician starts their day directly from home, using a fully equipped company vehicle. Parts and equipment are delivered to their home address, eliminating daily warehouse commutes. Visits to headquarters occur less than once a week and only when strictly necessary.

Candidate profile:

• Hands-on, able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Experienced, with a willingness to help rebuild the service organization
• Mechanical/hydraulics background with basic electronics knowledge
• Good proficiency in Dutch and English
• Excellent customer service skills, able to deliver short on-site trainings
• Driver's license required

Technical Expertise & Tools:

• Looking for a hands-on, technically skilled technician rather than an over-qualified engineer
• 5+ years of experience grounded in mechanics and hydraulics, plus basic/limited electronics knowledge
• Strong basic computer skills required; use of laptops/tablets with proprietary telemetry software to diagnose faults, calibrate parameters, and perform quick fixes remotely
• Vocational/technical school background preferred over a formal university degree
