Job summary

Synergy Systems is seeking a Field Service Engineer to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, install, and commission machinery at customer sites in the Netherlands and Belgium. You will also carry out workshop repairs and ensure safety and quality on every job.

The role requires 3–5 years of independent service experience, strong mechanical and electrotechnical skills, and a valid B driver’s license. On-site work and on-site travel will be frequent.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of independent service or maintenance experience.
• Experience with mechanical and electrotechnical tasks.
• On-site service work is an asset.
• MBO 3 level; MBO4 in Mechatronics is advantageous.
• Driver's license category B; VCA certification is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform preventive maintenance on customer machinery.
• Analyze and resolve mechanical and electrotechnical malfunctions.
• Install, test, and commission new machinery on site.
• Carry out repairs and overhauls in the workshop.
• Verify safety and operation per applicable standards.
• Report work performed and notable issues.
• Communicate with a customer-focused approach and advise where needed.
• Contribute ideas for maintenance and service improvements.

General Description

The Field Service Engineer is responsible for independently performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, and installing and commissioning machinery at customer sites. In addition, the role involves carrying out repairs and overhauls in the workshop. The position requires both mechanical and electrical expertise, a high degree of autonomy, and a customer-oriented mindset.

Approximately 70% of working time is spent on‑site at customer locations in the Netherlands and Belgium.

Main Tasks

1. Independently performing preventive maintenance on machinery at customer locations.
2. Analyzing and resolving mechanical and electrotechnical malfunctions.
3. Installing, testing, and commissioning new machinery at customer locations.
4. Carrying out repairs and overhauls in the workshop.
5. Verifying the quality, safety, and operation of systems in accordance with applicable standards.
6. Reporting on work performed and any notable issues.
7. Communicating with a customer‑focused approach and providing advice where necessary.
8. Contributing ideas for improvements to maintenance and service processes.

Required Work Experience

• 3-5 years of experience as an independent service or maintenance technician.
• Experience with mechanical and electrotechnical tasks.
• Experience with on‑site service work is an advantage.

Required Education Level

Technical education at a minimum of MBO 3 level (Dutch vocational qualification). An MBO 4 qualification in Mechatronics is an advantage.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Experience in reading technical drawings.
• Experience with industrial machinery or machine construction.
• Basic knowledge of control systems and sensor technology.
• Must hold a valid Category B driver's license (required).
• VCA certification is an advantage.
