Job summary

eBay in Amsterdam is seeking an expert Senior Manager of Europe Trade Compliance & Export Controls to lead the EU trade controls program across import, export, and customs.

You will partner with Legal, Product, Engineering, Shipping, Risk, and Compliance to implement scalable controls, assess obligations, and train teams on EU regulations.

Reporting to the Director of Export Controls & Trade Compliance, this role shapes eBay's European compliance posture and supports global initiatives.

Qualifications

• Pragmatic trade compliance experience.
• Ability to apply complex regulatory requirements.
• Experience working across Product, Engineering, Shipping, Operations, Legal, Risk, and Compliance.
• Demonstrated experience in implementing practical, scalable controls.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Europe Trade Compliance lead for EU export controls and customs requirements.
• Support global program development, including US nexus when affecting Europe.
• Assess obligations across marketplace, transaction, shipping, and logistics models.
• Provide training and guidance on classification, licensing, origin, duties, and import/export formalities.
• Develop and maintain risk assessments, policies, and governance for trade compliance.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Shipping, Operations, Legal, Risk, and Sanctions Compliance.
• Monitor regulatory developments including EU customs reform and export control updates.
