Job summary

BYD Europe is seeking a PAN EU Customs Compliance Expert for the Procurement Division to manage EU customs policies, oversee service providers, and lead AEO certification efforts. The role requires strong cross-departmental collaboration and fluent English, with additional European languages a plus.

The successful candidate will drive compliance in declaration data, negotiate with authorities, and shape internal standards and training to minimize risk and optimize costs across BYD's EU

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in customs management, international trade, logistics or related field.
• 8+ years of customs compliance management experience, preferably in EU contexts.
• Familiarity with EU policy areas: customs valuation, classification, and origin.
• Experience leading customs audits and defense responses.
• Strong cross-departmental communication and liaison with government agencies.
• English proficiency; German/French/Dutch a plus.

Responsibilities

• Interpret EU customs import/export policies to reduce costs.
• Oversee engagement of customs clearance providers and plan cost optimizations.
• Represent BYD to authorities, manage customs audits and disputes.
• Lead application and maintenance of AEO certification and internal audits.
• Review declaration data; ensure accurate, traceable declarations.
• Establish local compliance inspection mechanisms and audit responses.
• Review local tariff codes, apply trade policies, and support classification defense.
• Coordinate across departments and external partners to ensure regulatory compliance.
