Job summary

That Recruitment Company is seeking an Engineering Manager for an established insurance software company in the Netherlands. You will lead a Scrum team of eight, coach engineers, and drive delivery while collaborating closely with the CTO.

You will support customer migration, shape platform development, and make architectural decisions with occasional hands-on coding. You’ll help foster a bilingual Dutch/English working environment.

Qualifications

• Experience leading software engineering teams in insurance or financial services.
• Strong knowledge of Java and AWS; knowledge of Angular is a bonus.
• Excellent communication and people-management skills.

Engineering Manager | Insurance Software

Know the insurance world and enjoy helping engineering teams do their best work? I’m looking for an Engineering Manager for an established insurance software company rolling out a new platform.

About the company

They build software that supports insurers, brokers and financial advisers. They’re now modernising their technology and ways of working, with customers moving to a new cloud-native, AI-driven platform. There’s plenty to shape as the product develops.

The role

• Lead a Scrum team of eight, focusing on communication, coaching and delivery.


• Work closely with fellow Engineering Managers, reporting directly to the CTO.


• Support customer migration and the platform’s continued development.


• Contribute to technical decisions and get hands‑on occasionally, while keeping leadership as your main focus.


• Help develop a bilingual Dutch/English working environment.

What you’ll bring

• Insurance industry experience, alongside a background in software engineering and team leadership.


• Strong knowledge of Java and AWS; Angular is a bonus.


• Clear communication and a supportive, practical approach to managing people.


• A keen interest in AI and its use in insurance products and engineering.


• Confidence guiding a team through technical and organisational change.
