Job summary

Xomnia in Amsterdam seeks an AI for Energy & Utilities Practice Lead to drive the practice from the technical core. You will work directly with clients on demand forecasting, grid optimization, and agentic AI, guiding specialists and shaping offerings for the energy sector.

The role blends hands-on ML with consultancy, enabling production-ready solutions and strategic growth of the practice. English and Dutch fluency is required, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on experience as a machine learning engineer or data scientist.
• Consultancy experience within the energy & utilities sector, with client-facing roles and stakeholder management.
• Strong foundation: ML from prototype to production, discuss model architecture, MLOps, AI system design.
• Experience with time-series, sensor or IoT data at scale is a strong plus.
• Fluent in English and Dutch.
• Excellent communication skills; culture of sharing and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Client consulting & delivery: act as senior sparring partner from discovery to production, translating challenges into AI solutions.
• Technical leadership & capability building: review designs, develop reusable accelerators, guide engineers and data scientists.
• Practice development: shape Xomnia’s AI energy & utilities propositions and share expertise through cases, blogs, events.
• Commercial & presales support: assist proposals, scoping needs, build demos and ensure deliverability.
