Job summary

Single Quantum in Delft is seeking an Electronics Engineer to design and optimize electronics for our photon detection systems. You will translate prototypes into production-ready hardware and collaborate across physics and engineering teams.

The role offers the chance to shape test setups, improve performance, and lead documentation, specifications, and file structures for scalable quantum instruments in a fast-growing, international environment.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across teams (physicists to engineers).
  • Strong implementer who turns ideas into working hardware.
  • Excellent organizational habits: writing specs and standardizing design files.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize electronics within photon detection systems.
  • Build and refine test setups to characterize and improve electrical performance.
  • Translate prototypes into scalable, production-ready electronics.
  • Collaborate with teams to troubleshoot and refine electronic components.
  • Lead outsourcing, specification writing, and documentation (spec sheets, manuals, file structures).

What You’ll Do:
  • Design, develop, and optimize electronics within our cutting-edge photon detection systems
  • Build and refine test setups to characterize, validate, and improve electrical performance
  • Translate prototypes and concepts into scalable, production-ready electronics
  • Collaborate with other teams to troubleshoot, improve, and refine electronic components
  • Lead efforts in outsourcing, specification writing, and documentation (spec sheets, manuals, file structures)
Who We’re Looking For..
  • A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related technical field
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, analytical mindset
  • Ability to communicate effectively across teams - from physicists to engineers and technicians
  • Strong implementer : you can take ideas and turn them into working, documented hardware

The want to strive to improve existing solutions, better specs, improve the cost effectiveness and make more robust solutions.

  • Board level circuit design
  • RF: Transmission lines and filter calculations
  • Digital electronics : PCB interfaces, fast logic gates
  • Electronic measuring setups with devices such as: oscilloscopes, VNA's, SA's and AWG's.
