Job summary

GXO Logistics, Inc. in the Breda region (Rijsbergen) is seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist to help shape a safer, more compliant workplace within a dynamic logistics operation.

Reporting to the Regional QESH Manager, you will lead the EHS agenda, perform risk assessments, coordinate audits and investigations, deliver training, and partner with site leadership to drive continuous safety improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 5+ years in EHS/QESH within logistics, warehousing or manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of EHS management systems and ISO standards.
  • Experience conducting audits, risk assessments and investigations.
  • Excellent communication; fluent in Dutch and English.
  • Proactive, resilient and solutions-focused mindset.
  • Ability to coach and drive positive change across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and continuously improve the EHS management system and compliance.
  • Partner with operational teams to promote a proactive safety culture.
  • Conduct risk assessments and support incident investigations with practical solutions.
  • Coordinate audits, inspections and follow-up actions.
  • Analyze EHS performance and provide safety/operational recommendations.
  • Deliver training sessions, toolbox talks and awareness initiatives.
  • Support internal and external audits (ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and customer reviews).
  • Drive environmental initiatives reducing waste and supporting sustainability.

How you'll make an impact


  • Lead and continuously improve the EHS management system, ensuring compliance with legal, corporate and customer requirements

  • Partner with operational teams to promote a proactive safety culture and increase engagement across the site

  • Conduct risk assessments and support incident and near‑miss investigations, identifying practical solutions that prevent recurrence

  • Coordinate audits, inspections and compliance reviews, ensuring effective follow‑up of corrective and preventive actions

  • Analyse EHS performance trends and provide recommendations that improve safety, quality and operational performance

  • Deliver engaging training sessions, toolbox talks and awareness initiatives for employees, contractors, agency workers and visitors

  • Support internal and external audits, including ISO 45001, ISO 14001, customer and corporate compliance reviews

  • Drive environmental initiatives that reduce waste and support GXO's sustainability objectives

  • Contribute to emergency preparedness, business continuity and incident response processes


What you'll bring to GXO


  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent professional experience in Health & Safety, Environmental, Compliance or QESH-related disciplines

  • At least 5 years of experience within EHS, QESH, Health & Safety, Environmental or Compliance roles in logistics, warehousing, manufacturing or another operational environment

  • Strong knowledge of EHS management systems, ISO standards and relevant legislation

  • Experience conducting audits, risk assessments and incident investigations

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels

  • Strong proficiency in both Dutch and English

  • A proactive, resilient and solutions-focused mindset

  • Strong relationship‑building skills and the confidence to coach, challenge and drive positive change
