ASML in the Netherlands seeks a SAP Platform Leader to own the SAP Platform domain across the Enterprise Platforms value stream. You will manage the domain teams (up to 10 direct reports) and deliver roadmaps aligning with quality, time, and cost constraints.

Introduction

In this role, you are the end-to-end owner for the SAP Platform domain within the Enterprise Platforms value stream, managing the domain teams to deliver the roadmap and ensuring the triple constraint of quality, time, and cost is met. In this role you will have 10 direct reports and you will report into Head of Enterprise Platforms.

Role and Responsibilities

Roadmapping & Planning: translates the Enterprise Platforms value stream roadmap into SAP Platform domain plans; maintains the rolling six-quarter plan, including SAP platform modernization (e.g., S/4 infrastructure, BTP), lifecycle management, and technical standardization, driving measurable improvements in platform stability, scalability, and cost efficiency.

Delivery Management & Governance: manages dependencies, risks, and delivery governance, ensuring measurable improvements in platform capabilities, technical consistency, and modernization outcomes, while reducing technical debt and unnecessary customization.

Stakeholder & Supplier Management: manages SAP platform stakeholders and ecosystem partners (e.g., SAP, hyper scalers, system integrators), driving measurable improvements in platform standardization, roadmap delivery, and cost transparency.

Platform Evolution & Standardization: drives the evolution of the SAP platform stack (incl. Basis, BTP, and platform services like S&A), focusing on modernization, simplification, and standardization, while ensuring a clear separation from application ownership and operational run responsibilities.

Team Performance & Coaching: drives engineering practices for the SAP platform delivery, improving predictability and quality of platform delivery outcomes.

People Leadership: acts as the people leader for SAP platform teams, fostering high-performing teams with strong capabilities in SAP platform engineering, Basis, and platform lifecycle delivery.

Review and monitor delivery governance and the six-quarter plan, and replan scope and capacity as required.

Interact with the Head of Value Stream and domain stakeholders across the value stream to drive cross-domain dependencies and decisions, contributing to measurable improvements in platform stability, performance, and cost efficiency, and driving standardization and governance of the SAP platform layer (up to Basis), explicitly excluding ownership of the business application layer.

Operate in a dual interface with the Domain Architect to secure coherent delivery outcomes across SAP platform environments (e.g., S/4HANA, BTP, Basis), ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and platform strategy.

Education and Experience: Bachelor or Master’s degree with strong IT/platform/automation background. Proven experience in SAP platform leadership roles, including delivery leadership, people leadership, and supplier management. Experience in global enterprise environments with complex SAP landscapes and cross-border platform delivery. Hands-on experience in SAP platform environments (incl. Basis, S/4HANA, BTP), with proven ability to evolve platform strategies from traditional ERP landscapes toward standardized, scalable, and cost-efficient platform models while adapting to emerging technologies and architectural patterns.

SAP Platform Leadership at Scale: proven experience (~7–10 years) leading SAP platform or Basis domains in enterprise environments.

Platform Modernization & Transformation Experience: demonstrable experience delivering SAP platform modernization (e.g., S/4, BTP), including driving platform standardization and lifecycle improvements at scale.

Data-Driven Cost & Complexity Management: proven experience enabling reduction of customization or complexity through transparency on technical impact, risk, and cost-to-maintain, driving measurable improvements in platform efficiency and scalability.

Technical / functional skills: Program & Portfolio Planning: ability to run complex planning for SAP platform modernization, lifecycle evolution, and standardization initiatives across enterprise environments. Stakeholder Alignment & Collaboration: ability to align IT, platform teams, and business stakeholders, as well as Domain Owners and Domain Architects, while maintaining clear ownership boundaries between platform and application domains. Delivery Optimization & Platform Transparency: ability to drive standardization and simplification of SAP platform environments, enabling reduction of unnecessary customization by exposing complexity, technical impact, and cost-to-maintain insights, driving informed decision-making and measurable improvements in scalability, performance, and cost efficiency. SAP Platform Expertise: deep expertise in SAP platform environments (e.g. S/4HANA, BTP, Basis), with strong understanding of platform architecture, infrastructure, and lifecycle management (excluding business application layer). Platform Performance, Cost & Compliance: capability to optimize SAP platform performance and cost (incl. infrastructure and licenses), while ensuring adherence to security and compliance controls at the platform level.
