Huygens College Heerhugowaard, part of Onderwijsregio Hollands Noorden, is seeking a scheduling professional to manage daily and weekly timetables for 1,400+ pupils and 160 staff across two campuses.

The role starts early, coordinating mornings from home and collaborating across a foundation of nine schools. Training in Zermelo is provided, with a clear development path and benefits under the CAO VO.

You are responsible for creating and managing the daily and weekly schedules for our students and teachers. You ensure that the schedules are consistent and workable, taking into account the availability of classrooms, teachers, and other facilities. You start multiple workdays at 7:00 a.m. Between 7:00 a.m. and 7:15 a.m., you process any teacher sick notes so that by 7:30 a.m. the daily schedule for the students and teachers is optimally prepared. In consultation with the other schedule planners, these early morning shifts can be divided among one another. We use the Zermelo schedule program.

Tasks and responsibilities:

• preparing and managing daily and weekly schedules;
• Communicate with teachers and other staff to implement schedule changes;
• analyzing and resolving roster conflicts;
• use of the Zermelo scheduling program;
• contribute to the optimization of the scheduling process;
• Proactively collaborating with the organization to improve processes;

Job requirements

We are looking for a colleague with strong analytical thinking skills.

Additionally, we consider it important that you:

• you can start work on several days in the morning at 7:00 a.m. (from home)
• have experience with creating schedules
• can set priorities
• you are a team player who can work well with colleagues
• you have the ability to monitor (own) boundaries and remain stress-resistant
• possesses a proactive attitude, a solution-oriented ability and excellent communication skills

Over time, we will ask for knowledge expansion in the areas of the scheduling of tests, the planning of 10-minute conversations, and other types of schedules.

Employment conditions

An appointment as a staff member in shift A or shift B based on horizontal scaling in scale 6 or 7 (based on shift experience, knowledge and skills) as of January 4, 2027. With a size of 0.6-0.8 FTE.

The initial arrangement is for one year, with the possibility of a permanent employment contract upon proven suitability and sufficient training.
