Job description

We are looking for a hands-on Data Center Technician to join our onsite operations team in Amsterdam. You will support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and day-to-day operation of the infrastructure that keeps Oracle Cloud services running reliably.

If you enjoy working with hardware, solving technical issues, and operating in a fast-paced data center environment, we’d like to hear from you.

As an Oracle Data Center Technician, you’ll be part of the onsite team responsible for maintaining and supporting production data center infrastructure. You’ll work hands-on with server hardware, rack and stack activities, structured cabling, break/fix, deployments, and incident triage.

You’ll be expected to handle standard operational tasks independently, troubleshoot hardware and infrastructure issues, and collaborate closely with engineers, senior technicians, and other teams when escalation or additional expertise is required.

This is a fully onsite role in Amsterdam, working in a two-shift rotation Monday to Friday, with participation in an on-call rotation outside regular shift hours as required.

Requirements
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in a data center environment, such as data center operations, colocation, hyperscale, enterprise data center, or a comparable critical infrastructure environment.
  • Practical experience with server hardware, including hardware troubleshooting, component replacement, and break/fix activities.
  • Working knowledge of Linux, including fundamental commands and basic troubleshooting.
  • Good understanding of the broader data center environment, including power, cooling, networking fundamentals, and structured cabling.
  • Experience with rack and stack, hardware installations, and fiber/copper cabling.
  • Ability to troubleshoot standard operational and hardware issues independently and escalated effectively when needed.
  • Comfortable working in a two-shift Monday–Friday rotation and participating in an on-call rotation.
  • Strong attention to detail with a disciplined approach to documentation, safety, and operational procedures.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
  • Provide hands-on onsite support in a production data center environment, including hardware break/fix, component replacement, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
  • Perform rack and stack, installation, configuration, cabling, and testing of servers and other data center equipment.
  • Support infrastructure deployments and ensure work is completed accurately and according to established procedures.
  • Perform routine maintenance activities, including firmware updates, hardware health checks, and preventative maintenance.
  • Triage and respond to incidents and service requests, troubleshoot issues, determine appropriate next steps, and escalated when necessary.
  • Perform structured cabling activities, including fiber and copper patching, labeling, tracing, and cable management.
  • Maintain accurate asset, parts, and spare inventory, supporting audits and ensuring disciplined tracking of equipment.
  • Follow established SOPs, safety standards, and operational processes, while identifying opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Maintain clear and accurate documentation of work performed, incidents, troubleshooting steps, and operational changes.
  • Communicate effectively with engineers, operations teams, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a shift-based, multidisciplinary data center operations team and contribute to smooth handovers between shifts.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation and respond to operational issues outside scheduled shift hours when required.
