Job description

Position Summary

Join Our Team and Shape the Backbone of the Digital World. Are you a hands‑on engineer with a passion for building and maintaining critical infrastructure? Do you thrive in fast‑paced environments where precision and reliability are key? We’re looking for a Data Center Engineer to join our dynamic team and support the growth and operation of our global data center infrastructure.

Role and Responsibilities
How you make a difference

In this role, you’ll work at the heart of our operations — combining technical expertise, on‑site execution, and leadership to ensure that our data centers run flawlessly. From installing and maintaining hardware to coordinating with international vendors, you’ll be an essential part of the backbone that powers our digital services. You’ll also play a vital role in our daily operations, working with a ticket‑based support system to resolve hardware issues, perform equipment moves, and respond to incidents within defined SLAs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform on-site operational support and execute infrastructure projects, including server relocations and hardware installations.
  • Respond to daily ticket‑based requests for hands‑on support, primarily hardware‑related, ensuring timely resolution in accordance with defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Relocate equipment between racks or data center locations by safely unracking, uncabling, transporting, and reinstalling hardware.
  • Address system alerts such as hardware failures (e.g. replacing failed hard drives or faulty components).
  • Install servers, network and security equipment, and structured cabling in compliance with industry standards.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain physical network components and hardware systems.
  • Coordinate with third‑party vendors for the delivery and installation of racks, power systems, network gear, and structured cabling.
  • Ensure all cabling and physical installations meet organizational and industry best practices.
  • Manage inventory and liaise with suppliers and logistics partners for domestic and international shipments.
  • Document and continuously improve standard operating procedures.
  • Handle Return Merchandise Authorizations (RMAs) with vendors for faulty equipment.
  • Participate in an on‑call rotation to provide after‑hours support for emergency incidents or outages.
Your team

As a Data Center Engineer, you’ll join a small, experienced team of three based in the Netherlands. The other two team members have similar roles and will support you as you settle in. Your manager is based abroad.

Skills and Qualifications
What are your assets

As our new Data Center Engineer, you’re technically strong and a self‑starter who works well with little supervision. Your organizational and communication skills help you lead on‑site and collaborate smoothly with vendors and remote teams. You’re proactive, detail‑oriented, and flexible with your hours, including on‑call support. You ensure quality results while keeping the team running efficiently.

We also request:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in data centers, including working with data centre and network vendors, coordinating service provisioning and equipment installations.
  • Strong hands‑on experience installing and troubleshooting server hardware, network circuits, and cables, including familiarity with structured cabling standards.
  • Experience in project coordination within data centre environments.
  • Experience with inventory control and remote hands coordination.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, especially complex spreadsheets and shared documentation.
  • Broad technical understanding of data centre hardware, networking, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Working 5 days a week in the Data Centre and the willingness to travel internationally (up to 10%).
What’s in it for you?
  • Competitive compensation & benefits package to reward you for your work in supporting our company to grow. Including health insurance, 100% reimbursed by Samsung, 6% personal contribution to pension and an internet allowance of €29.42 per month.
  • * Bonus system where you can earn up to 2 additional month’s salary per 6 months. *
  • A position for 40 hours a week.
  • NS Business Card is included, and you’re allowed to use it for personal travel as well.
  • 25 vacation days + Good Friday and the possibility to buy 5 extra vacation days.
  • Telephone from Samsung with unlimited calling and 10GB data, within the EU and a Laptop of Samsung.
  • Discount on the purchase of Samsung products via our employee portal, up to a purchase amount of €2,500 per year
  • Extensive Development, Health & Wellbeing programs (for example Samsung University, young talent & leadership programs, we have our own fitness on site (SEBN Schiphol office), we have an online mental health portal, personal gym sessions which you can join and many more because we care about your development and wellbeing).
