Job summary

Mainfreight Europe in Amsterdam is seeking a Customs Specialist to join our import air freight team. You will support growing business by handling customs clearance for import shipments and delivering precise, proactive service to internal and external customers.

Based in our Amsterdam air freight branch, you will work with overseas Mainfreight colleagues, authorities and customers, while developing and improving brokerage procedures and gradually expanding into other import operations.

ABOUT THE ROLE

With a fantastic opportunity available, we are looking for a highly motivated team member to join our import air freight team to support our growing business. Ideally the successful candidate has 1-3 years customs experience and is orientating a more diverse role. We would like to offer the opportunity to develop yourself between all-round team members who are all capable of handling shipments including customs clearance.

Ideally the successful candidate will have had a taste of customer service and operations in air & ocean freight, but the willingness to join a very driven air team and a hands-on mentality are more important.

DUTIES & RESPONSBILITIES

Based in our Amsterdam air freight branch, this role is all about providing outstanding customer service while working very precise. Your focus will be around custom clearing import shipments; liaising with our overseas Mainfreight branches, both internal and external customers, customs and local authorities, all with service at the front of mind. On top of your daily responsibilities, you will support the operations team with developing, implementing and continuously enhancing customs and brokerage procedures. Over the long term, we are eager to train you on the other aspects of import operations (e.g. customer service, invoicing, quoting etc.). Your path is therefore wide open!
