Job summary

Van Oord is seeking an Offshore Crane Operator to join our team on worldwide offshore projects. You will operate lifting cranes on platforms, pontoons and ships, draft lifting plans and perform crane maintenance to ensure safe, efficient operations.

You bring 3–5 years of crane experience (100T+), Stage 3 lifting certificates, and strong Dutch/English communication. Expect international travel and a 5-weeks-on/5-weeks-off rotation, with ongoing training and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Stage 3 lifting certificate and other relevant lifting certificates.
• 3–5 years of experience with cranes of at least 100T (offshore or civil engineering).
• Strong Dutch and English communication skills.
• Willingness to work irregular hours and travel internationally.

Responsibilities

• Operate lifting cranes on offshore platforms, pontoons and ships.
• Draft and execute lifting plans.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on cranes, including hydraulic systems.
• Collaborate with deck crew to maintain a safe, orderly work environment.
• Demobilize cranes for various projects and ensure safe operation around the crane.

Job description

As an Offshore Crane Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and effective operation of cranes on various offshore projects worldwide. Your tasks will include lifting operations on platforms, pontoons, and ships, drafting lifting plans, and performing maintenance and repairs on cranes. You will work closely with the deck crew and actively contribute to a safe and orderly work environment.

You are a motivated and experienced crane operator with a strong safety awareness. You have technical insight and enjoy working in a team to successfully complete projects. Additionally:

• You are flexible and willing to work internationally
• Offshore Crane Operator Stage 3 certificate and other relevant lifting certificates
• At least 3-5 years of experience with cranes of at least 100T (preferably in the offshore or civil engineering sector)
• Technical insight and experience with hydraulic systems
• Strong communication skills in Dutch and English
• Willingness to work irregular hours, including abroad

In this role, you ensure the safe and efficient execution of lifting operations at offshore locations. You contribute to the success of each project by making optimal use of your technical knowledge and experience. Additionally:

• You have a keen eye for safety and maintenance and take a proactive role in identifying and resolving technical issues
• Operating lifting cranes (100-1400 tons, including crawler and offshore cranes)
• Drafting and executing lifting plans
• Maintaining and repairing cranes, including hydraulic systems and hoisting wires
• Performing visual inspections and replacing components such as hoisting wires and oil
• Ensuring a safe working environment on and around the crane
• (De)mobilizing cranes for various projects
