During the initial stage of the project, you will work closely with engineering and project teams to ensure designs are practical, safe, and fully constructible.
Drawing on your experience in underground infrastructure, pipeline construction, energy, or industrial environments, you will provide input into technical decision‑making, risk assessments, and execution planning.
As the project progresses into construction, you will take responsibility for overseeing site activities, leading supervision teams, and ensuring safe, high-quality delivery in line with project objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in design reviews, technical assessments, and project development meetings.
- Review designs from a constructability, feasibility, and safety perspective.
- Provide practical construction input to support engineering and design decisions.
- Identify construction, safety, environmental, and execution risks at an early stage.
- Evaluate the impact of design decisions on safety, quality, schedule, cost, and stakeholder requirements.
- Support the preparation of execution strategies and project documentation.
- Ensure the design is ready for safe and efficient construction.
- Lead construction readiness activities, including execution planning, site organisation, supervision requirements, and transition into the delivery phase.
Construction Phase:
- Coordinate and supervise construction activities on site.
- Build, manage, and mentor the site supervision team.
- Monitor safety, quality, progress, and compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
- Act as the primary technical interface between contractors and the wider project team.
- Identify, manage, and resolve risks, deviations, and bottlenecks.
- Support commissioning, project completion, final handover, and close‑out activities.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and operational excellence throughout project delivery.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum 5 years' experience within underground infrastructure, pipeline construction, energy, utilities, or industrial environments.
- Valid VCA-VOL certification or willingness to obtain it.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
- Proven ability to review technical designs from a constructability perspective.
- Solid understanding of construction methods within underground infrastructure and linear asset environments.
- Experience managing interfaces involving landowners, permitting authorities, logistics, and external stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements within high‑risk construction environments.
- Understanding of the interfaces between civil, mechanical, and infrastructure construction disciplines.
- Proactive approach to risk identification, mitigation, and problem‑solving.
- Experience working under contract frameworks such as UAV 2012 or similar construction contracts.
- Experience delivering brownfield work scopes.
- Previous involvement in a large‑scale energy, infrastructure, utility, or industrial development.
- Experience coaching and developing inspectors, supervisors, and construction personnel.
