Job summary

Datacenter People LLC in IJmuiden, Netherlands, leads commissioning of emergency power and CHP systems for critical infrastructure. You will perform FAT/SAT, test generators, and manage the in-house generator control system, ensuring flawless synchronization and safe operation.

Seeking a hands-on engineer with 5+ years in testing/commissioning, PLC/ComAp experience, and willingness to travel ~70% abroad. German and English fluency are required to collaborate with international teams.

Qualifications

• MBO level 4 education in a relevant field.
• Fluent in German and English (conversational).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in testing and commissioning.
• Experience with wind farms, oil & gas, mobile power solutions.
• Knowledge of programming and modifying PLCs and ComAp systems.
• Deep knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, preferably in emergency generators or CHP.

Responsibilities

• Make technical decisions based on data, guidelines, and experience.
• Work with project, design, and installation teams; ensure regulatory compliance and perform detailed performance tests.
• Act as the main contact for customers on technical questions about installation and FAT/SAT preparation and reporting.
• Perform structured testing on generators and verify system correctness and safety.
• Analyse technical issues during testing and provide targeted solutions.
• Manage automatic changeover between main and emergency power in generator control system.
• Diagnose faults via detailed data logging to ensure reliable operation of emergency power installations.
• Ensure compliance with applicable standards and project requirements in emergency power systems.
• Commissioning of fuel systems and full commissioning of urea systems.
• Document all test results and processes in reports meeting project requirements.

The Client

Datacenter People is partnering with a leading European integrated power solutions manufacturer, a brand independent supplier of power systems for mission critical sectors including data center.

What The Job Involves

• Make technical decisions based on data, guidelines, and experience, making you the ideal professional for this structured, results-driven role.
• Work closely with project, design, and installation teams. You ensure compliance with regulations and carry out detailed performance tests before the system is handed over to the customer.
• Act as the main point of contact for customers regarding technical questions about the installation and supervise the activities required for the preparation, execution, and reporting of FAT and SAT.
• Perform structured testing on generators, and you verify each system for correctness and safety to ensure everything operates as designed.
• During testing, you analyse technical issues and provide targeted solutions, always based on a logical and factual approach.
• You work with our in-house-designed generator control system, where you manage the automatic changeover between the main power supply and emergency power, ensuring flawless synchronisation of multiple generators.
• With our system, you can quickly diagnose faults through detailed data logging, ensuring reliable operation of emergency power installations.
• You ensure that all emergency power systems comply with applicable standards and specific project requirements, working meticulously to ensure everything is correct down to the smallest detail.
• Commissioning of fuel systems.
• Full commissioning of urea systems.
• You carefully document all test results and processes in reports, providing clear documentation that meets project requirements and relevant standards.

We Are Looking For Someone With

• MBO level 4 education, for example in Maritime Studies, Electrical Engineering, or Mechatronics.
• Working language: German and English (conversational level).
• Willingness to work abroad approximately 70% of the time.
• Willingness to follow additional training related to emergency power installations
• At least 5 years of experience in testing and commissioning in environments such as wind farms, the oil and gas industry, mobile power solutions, etc.
• Knowledge and experience in programming and modifying PLCs and ComAp systems
• In-depth knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, preferably in emergency generators or CHP (combined heat and power) systems.
• An analytical mindset and strong attention to detail—you understand that every technical detail matters and leave nothing to chance.
• The ability to work independently in an ambitious environment, following clear guidelines and executing every step according to plan.
