Job summary

Hitachi Energy The Netherlands BV in Rotterdam is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to join our Grid Integration team. In this field-based role you'll lead the final and most critical phase of projects—bringing complex systems safely to life from pre-commissioning to client handover.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering and at least 5 years in commissioning within industrial projects, with strong safety, quality, and documentation skills, and readiness to travel

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in commissioning engineering within industrial or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations, quality standards, and project documentation.
• Excellent planning, coordination, and communication skills.
• Leadership ability and a proactive mindset.
• Willingness to travel extensively within the region and occasionally abroad.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute commissioning schedules, manuals, and test procedures.
• Deliver quality results on time and within budget, resolving issues and driving continuous improvement.
• Produce documentation and reports that meet client and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with customers, third‑party providers, and government agencies to secure approvals and sign‑offs.
• Conduct risk assessments and safety tours; implement mitigation strategies.
• Mentor engineers, technicians, and support staff during commissioning activities.
• Support proposal development, technical sales, and contract scope assessments.
• Coordinate supply chain for commissioning tools and services.
