Delivering the best contractor/interim talent in the Life Sciences space.
About the Role
We are supporting a large-scale pharmaceutical / life sciences project at an early delivery stage, with a strong pipeline of work ahead. This is a site-based role involving multiple building systems and automation packages delivered by external vendors.
The focus of the role is commissioning execution and oversight, rather than system design.
The Role
As a BAS / EMS Commissioning Engineer, you will support the commissioning and start-up of building and automation systems across the site. Working closely with the commissioning lead, you will oversee vendor activities, identify issues early, and ensure systems operate correctly ahead of qualification.
This is a hands‑on, execution-focused role with strong site exposure. While you will not be responsible for system design, you must understand how automation, HVAC, and mechanical systems work together in a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and oversee site-wide commissioning activities for BAS, EMS, HVAC, and associated building systems
- Manage and coordinate vendors and contractors during commissioning and start-up activities
- Identify technical or integration issues early and proactively drive resolution
- Review commissioning plans, test scripts, and vendor documentation
- Witness and support functional testing, system start-up, and performance verification
- Ensure systems are operating correctly and ready to transition into qualification activities
- Act as an on-site technical point of contact across automation, mechanical, and building systems
- Interface with other engineering disciplines to understand system dependencies
- Maintain alignment with cGMP and regulatory expectations (not a pure CSV role)
- Provide clear updates on progress, risks, and issues to the commissioning lead
Your Profile
- 5+ years’ experience in commissioning within pharma, life sciences, or regulated industrial environments
- Strong understanding of BAS/EMS, HVAC controls, and mechanical system integration
- Hands‑on site experience executing or supporting commissioning activities
- Practical knowledge of HVAC systems and how automation drives performance
- Experience managing vendors and system integrators on site
- Ability to interpret system architectures and control strategies
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills during start-up
- Clear communication skills and fluency in English
- Willingness to be predominantly site-based
- Contract: Initial 12 months (long-term pipeline of 5–6 years)
- Start date: Mid-February (earlier start possible)
- Location: Predominantly on-site (5 days/week, limited remote flexibility)
- Hours: Approx. 40 hours per week
- Rate: €70–80/hour all‑in (flexibility for strong profiles)
Why This Role?
- Join a project at an early stage with long-term continuity
- Strong on-site visibility with the opportunity to grow into a lead role
- Exposure to complex, regulated commissioning activities
- Stable, long-term contract environment (not shutdown-based work)
