Job summary

Jones Engineering Group is seeking a Commercial Manager with an electrical background to lead delivery on a flagship Data Centre project in central Amsterdam. The role focuses on on-site leadership, contract administration, and close collaboration with senior staff in Ireland.

You will oversee commercial aspects, monitor cash flow, manage subcontractors, and co-ordinate progress applications. A third-level qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics is required; data centre

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics.
• Electrical background preferred but not essential.
• Able to work independently and in a multi-functional team.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to Construction Team on Quantity Surveying functions.
• Identify potential commercial risks and report to management.
• Compile monthly progress applications with remeasurement, variations, day-works or claims.
• Procurement support and contract administration with Procurement Department.
• Manage subcontractor accounts from award to interim valuation and final account.
• Forecast turnover and cash flow for projects.
• Ensure accurate reporting and commercial management of projects.
• Identify, analyse and report trends within the Business & Projects.
• Review correspondence from Employers/Design Team/Subcontractors to flag contract items.

Job description

Due to continued expansion in our Data Centre division, Jones Engineering require a Commercial Manager preferably with an Electrical background to join the delivery teams for large Data Centre Project in central Amsterdam. This Data Centre Project is in a region where further growth is expected and is an opportunity for an ambitious Commercial Manager to grow their career with support and guidance from our senior staff in Ireland.

Responsibilities

To provide support to Construction Team on all Quantity Surveying functions including, but not limited to the following:

• Ensure compliance with contract obligations and provide advice and monitoring of same to construction team
• Ability to identify potential commercial risks and ensure prompt reporting of same to management
• Compile monthly progress applications and ensure they are inclusive of accurate remeasure, site variations, day-works or claims
• Procurement - operational procurement activity and contract support, in conjunction with the Procurement Department
• Manage subcontractor accounts from initial award to interim valuation, variations and final account
• Managing and forecasting of turnover and cash flow of the projects
• Reviewing and commercial management of all projects, to ensure accurate and reliable reporting
• Identify, Analyse and report on trends within the Business & Projects
• Review all incoming correspondence from Employers, Design Team and /or subcontractors, to identify contractually critical items and to initiate replies
• To ensure Construction Team is adhering to all Contractual Requirements and providing advice and monitoring of same
• Manage and mentor the wider Commercial Team on site.
• All other duties associated with this role

Key Skills/ Requirements

• Relevant third level qualification essential in Quantity Surveying/ Construction Economics
• Previous Data Centre experience preferable but not essential
• Experience in an Electrical role required
• Ability to work both individually and as part of a multi-functional team
• Demonstrates excellent presentation, verbal, written, and communication skills
