Job summary

Haskoning offers a coastal engineering graduation internship focusing on toe stability for Xblocs. You will perform 2D physical model tests in a wave flume to study toe geometry effects on hydraulic stability of Xbloc(Plus) armour layers.

You will analyze results against literature, work with academic and industry supervisors, and spend several weeks in Gouda, with regular office work in Delft, Amersfoort, or Rotterdam. An internship allowance of 750 euro is provided.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Master’s programme in Hydraulic Engineering or Coastal Engineering.
• Able to spend multiple weeks in Gouda conducting the physical model tests.
• Able to work regularly from Delft and/or Amersfoort and/or Rotterdam offices.
• Must remain enrolled at a Dutch university (WO) for the entire duration of the internship.

Responsibilities

• Conduct 2D physical model tests on toe stability of Xbloc armoured breakwaters in a wave flume.
• Investigate the influence of toe level and toe width on hydraulic stability.
• Analyse results, compare with literature and empirical formulas, and propose refinements if appropriate.
