Job summary

Haskoning is offering a coastal engineering graduation internship focused on 2D physical model tests of Xbloc armoured breakwaters. You will investigate toe stability, comparing results with literature and empirical formulas to deepen understanding and inform practical applications.

You will work with a dedicated mentor, conducting literature studies and model experiments in Gouda, Delft, Amersfoort, or Rotterdam, with hybrid working options and generous internship guidelines.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Master’s programme in Hydraulic Engineering, Coastal Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Able to spend multiple weeks in Gouda conducting the physical model tests.
• Able to work regularly from the offices in Delft and/or Amersfoort and/or Rotterdam.
• Must be enrolled at a Dutch university (WO) during the entire duration of the internship.

Responsibilities

• Conduct 2D physical model tests on toe stability of Xbloc armoured breakwaters.
• Analyse and interpret results and compare to literature and empirical formulas.
• Investigate influence of lowering toe level and increasing toe width.
• Extract engineering insights and propose coefficients/formula adjustments if warranted.
