Job summary

Haskoning and Delta Marine Consultants invite a Master’s student to join a coastal engineering graduation internship focused on toe stability for Xblocs. You will perform 2D physical model tests in a wave flume and assess how toe level and width influence hydraulic stability.

You will compare results with literature and empirical formulas, presenting findings to supervisors and developing practical insights for real-world applications.

Qualifications

• Analytical Master’s student with strong interest in coastal and hydraulic engineering.
• Enrolled in a Master’s programme in Hydraulic Engineering, Coastal Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Available to spend multiple weeks on-site in Gouda and work from Delft/Amersfoort/Rotterdam offices.

Responsibilities

• Conduct 2D physical model tests on toe stability to investigate the influence of toe width and toe level.
• Investigate how toe geometry affects hydraulic stability of Xbloc armour using a wave flume.
• Analyse results and compare them to literature and empirical formulas for practical guidance.

Education

Master’s programme in Hydraulic Engineering, Coastal Engineering, or a closely related field
