• Experience assessing foundations, structures, drainage, roads, and related civil infrastructure in an energy project environment.

Civil Engineer

Duration: 12 Months

Location: Nijmegen, Netherlands

This opportunity supports the development and delivery of a utility-scale 300 MW Battery Energy Storage System project, with a focus on civil compliance within the Dutch regulatory environment. The role will contribute specialist input across Basic Design, BoP tendering, and selected construction-phase queries, helping ensure deliverables align with local codes, standards, and site-specific conditions. This position offers the chance to work across foundations, drainage, structures, fire safety considerations, and technical documentation within a complex BESS project environment.

Required Experience

• Experience with utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System projects
• Experience reviewing civil design deliverables for compliance with Dutch legal, regulatory, and site-specific requirements
• Experience supporting Basic Design, BoP tendering, and construction-phase technical clarification activities
• Experience assessing foundations, structures, drainage, roads, and related civil infrastructure in an energy project environment
• Experience working with site constraints, constructability considerations, and former industrial or power plant sites

Required Skills

• Strong working knowledge of Dutch civil regulations, local codes, and site-specific conditions
• Knowledge of PGS 37-1, NEN 4288, relevant NEN standards, and applicable Bouwbesluit / Omgevingswet provisions
• Ability to identify gaps between generic or international design documents and Netherlands-specific requirements
• Ability to translate regulatory requirements into clear, actionable review comments for technical teams
• Strong capability in reviewing drawings, technical documents, and contractor submissions produced by others
• Ability to support interpretation of local regulatory requirements during construction queries and RFIs
• Dutch language fluency
• English language fluency
• Strong communication skills for coordination with engineering teams, clients, and local stakeholders where required
